The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves-Ready to Throw in the Towel Edition

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba of The Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  This is a weekly meme where we can share news of the week and highlight new books received.

Well, 2014 is turning out to be a craptastic year.  Tuesday started with Poppy having issues, and her fecal test finally revealed that both she and Bumble more than likely have an intestinal parasite.  I was feeling good about that – I finally knew what his problem was.  I am upset at the ER vet hospital for not treating both of them when Poppy was sick in January.  If they have given me dewormer for both of them, maybe Bumble wouldn’t have been having the issues he is.  I spent Saturday disinfecting their area, and I purchased new pillows for them.  Having learned my lesson, these dog beds can be easily thrown in the washer and dryer, as opposed to their old dog beds, when ended up in the trash because I can’t wash them.

Before the elation over discovering the cause of their illness had even had a chance to set in, we received one of those horrible calls in the middle of the night.  Dean’s mom has been hospitalized, and it’s been a very stressful week.  She had surgery on Thursday, and she was. Not. Happy.  We spent all day Thursday at the hospital for the surgery and recovery, and Dean spent all day there yesterday. To complicate matters, the hospital is an hour and half drive away.  The family has to decide what to do when she’s ready to leave the hospital-it is unlikely that she will would be able to care for herself.  To make things even more stressful, we are supposed to go on vacation next week.

If things get a little slow on the blog in terms of reviews, you know why.  It’s been difficult to concentrate enough to read, let alone write a review.

Best wishes to you and your family. Nothing is worse than having a family member in the hospital. We just ended our vigil with my best friend and his family and now it’s recovery/decompressing and funeral arrangements. Not that I’m saying that your situation will be so dire. Just… sympathizing, Hope you have a better week and you are vacation bound!

@erinf1 – Unfortunately, our situation is pretty dire. Pain maintenance and comfort level are about the only things being done right now. 🙁

Wow, your week was in a word, shitty. I so hope things are better this week and forget the blog we will be here when everything settles down. I am so glad you finally know what was wrong with the babies and are treating them. *hugs*

So sorry to hear about your situation, that is so hard when something like that happens to a family member. Best wishes going forward… and for your dogs too, hope they are better soon.

On the book front, Mouse heart sounds good, the amazon blurb says it’s like Warriors meets Redwall- hmm. And House of the Rising Sun looks like a cool UF too.

Thinking of you… grab a book and preferably one which can cheer you up! In regards to the dogs – glad you know now what the problem is, and at least it’s treatable.
Hopefully, have a better week and Happy Reading!
