This volume didn’t work for me as well as previous installments, and that’s because Karasuno takes a backseat to the other teams attempting to qualify for the Spring Tournament. And while my favorite team other than Karasuno is probably Nekoma, I just don’t feel as invested in their players. This volume is all about Nekoma playing against Fukurodani, and then against the smarmy Nohebi team.

Yeow! This is another volume that is all volleyball, all the time! After a nail-biter of a 4th set, the Miyagi Prefecture qualifier round finals advance to a fifth and final set. Tsukishima is hurt from deflecting missiles hurled at him from Shiratorizawa, and is taken to the infirmary. Kageyama is exhausted from unrelenting play. With Sugawara subbing as the setter, there’s a new dynamic to the team. Can they use it to their advantage and pull out a surprise victory?
