Top Five Reasons Why Military Heroes are Hot by Dixie Lee Brown
I’m excited to be here at the Manga Maniac Café today to talk about my top five reasons military heroes are HOT! However you prefer your heroes, maybe you’ll identify with some of these.
5) What makes military men hot? The uniform, of course! A man all cleaned, pressed, and buttoned up automatically lets our heroine know that, if nothing else, he should be able to pick up his dirty clothes and throw them in the hamper. Right? But it goes far beyond that. Even a man in fatigues seems to do it for our heroine. It tells her he’s disciplined, he pays attention to detail, he’s protective, and fresh from the fight. Read more
It’s been a while since I read the first two volumes of LIMIT, but I didn’t have any problems jumping back into the series again. This is a survival story; a bus of high schoolers is headed to the mountains for a camping trip. There’s a terrible accident, and the bus plunges off the road and down the mountainside. There’s only a handful of survivors, and they are all girls. Bickering and power struggles begin at once, and Morishige, the only one with a weapon, quickly takes charge. Morishige has issues. She has grudges against the other girls, and establishes herself as the leader of her battered, hungry, and terrified classmates. When Isui changes to power dynamic by running off with Morishige’s scythe, there’s a rebellion against Morishige’s cruel leadership. Read more

I read The Girl Who Could Fly because I received a copy for a blog tour. I love middle-grade books, and since it’s been a while since I read one, I was excited to start this. She’s a surprise to her older, salt of the earth parents, and when the lively, happy Piper is born, they are taken aback. They are, while not joyless folk, serious and dedicated to the land that has been in the family for generations. They don’t need much and are content to get by, farming the land, tending their livestock, and fitting, uneventfully, into their community. Read more
