Happy New Year!

Bumble and I spent spent most of the evening cuddling on the couch.

Poppy wasn’t sure she was into that.  She continually dive bombed Bumble’s end of the couch in an effort to get him to play.  While Bumble was hardly amused, I thought she was pretty funny.

Hope your New Year is full of joy and happiness for you and your loved ones!

The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves–It’s Almost October! Edition

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba of The Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  This is a weekly meme where we can share news of the week and highlight new books received.

Here’s an update for the past two weeks.  First, I can’t believe it’s almost October.  I leave for OKC and the Grand National Morgan Horse Show in a little less than two weeks.  I am so looking forward to relaxing while watching the best Morgan horses in the country that are showcased in the competition.

I took the puppers to a private training lesson last week.  Bumble was pulling me during our walks, and totally ignoring me.  Rachel showed me some things to try with him, and I was AMAZED at how quickly and how well they worked.  He still needs a lot of work, but when I took them to the park for our walkie, they were both much improved.  I am so excited to work on some of his other trouble areas, especially how he reacts to other dogs.  He gets so nervous and thinks that he has to protect his little pack from danger, and I don’t like him to be so stressed out.  They go back for another lesson after OKC, but in the meantime, I will continue to work on improving his walking habits, and both of their listening skills.  When I ask them to come to me, I need them to pay attention to me!  Do any of you have problem areas with your dogs that you’d like to work on?

The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves–Another Month Over Edition

ZOMG! I can’t believe that summer is over.  While I’m happy to have an extra day off this weekend, I am starting to dread the idea of winter.  Ugh! I just started enjoying walkies with the puppers, and the thought of slipping and sliding around on the snow and ice is just not appealing to me.

Speaking of the puppies, when we got back from our walkie on Thursday, Dean noticed that Bumble’s eyes looked funny.  When I looked, I. FREAKED. OUT!  His little face was getting more swollen by the second, and naturally our regular vet had just closed, and I didn’t have any Benadryl in the house.  I ALWAYS have Benadryl in the house.  I raced him over to the snazzy new animal ER that just opened near us, and after a shot of steroids and Benadryl, his face started to get back to normal.  We had a rough night because of the steroid shot (thanks for mentioning that it would make him have to pee every 10 minutes, NOT) but he was all back to himself by Saturday AM.  Or maybe prior, and it took until Saturday for me to get back into sorts.

The vet is pretty certain that he was bitten by a bug, and he had a reaction to that.  Now I have to make sure I have Benadryl in the house, because if he is bitten again, the reactions will keep getting worse.  Wonderful.  Poor guy!  Who would have thought a quick spin around the park would end up giving Bumble a pumpkin face and costing me 200 bucks to get it back to normal?  Not ME!  I am very, very glad that he’s okay! (It’s my wallet that is sobbing)

Last Sunday we had another – PUPPY PLAY DATE!!

Happy, smiley Poppy!

Angel taught the youngsters a new game – attack the rake!

Off to the races!

Ziva and Sniper forgot the ball and started wrestling instead.

Senior Angel still has the moves to get the ball.

She also has to teach the youngsters some manners.

At the races, again! Poppy’s in the lead.

The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves– Crazy Days

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba of The Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  This is a weekly meme where we can share news of the week and highlight new books received.

What a crazy week!  Bombings, earthquakes, explosions, entire cities in  lockdown!  I hope all of you are safe and that the madness of last week is at an end.

Here are some puppy pictures.  Hopefully they’ll bring a smile to your face.

Bumble and Sniper didn’t see eye to eye at first.

Sniper put down the paw of doom.

But that didn’t really improve the situation.

Though they did sort of get along after a few snarls and growls.

There is always running and chasing to distract young pups.

More running and chasing.

So, yup, that was last Sunday.  The puppers were exhausted from their play day and slept like little logs.  Win!

The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves–Maybe It’s Spring? Finally??

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba of The Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  This is a weekly meme where we can share news of the week and highlight new books received.

It’s finally starting to warm up around here, so I am optimistic that it will eventually be warm enough to be considered “spring.” Probably not until summer, but, oh, well.  Had a few hectic days this week.

My lease was up on my Jeep, so I got a new car.

This is a lease, too, and it was a little cheaper than my Jeep, so score! It’s a better vehicle, in my opinion, and it has SYNC and some other high tech stuff that I haven’t figured out yet.  I like that the car is lower to the ground, because it’s easier to get the puppies in and out of it.

This is Pixie.  I bought her last year, after realizing that Blondie, no matter how much I wanted her to be the horse for me, never would be.  She didn’t want to be a saddle horse, or a show horse, so I finally decided we would both be happier if she went somewhere that she didn’t have to work so hard.  Pixie is a 5 year old Morgan, and I don’t believe she’s been shown under saddle yet, so this year will be a learning experience for both of us.  She is still very green, but she’s honest and wants to please, and I am so happy with her.  More to follow.

Here is Poppy at Sonic.  Since it was so nice yesterday, I convinced Dean that we all needed to go to Sonic for some ice cream.  The puppies were a bit apprehensive at Sonic because with the warm weather there was a lot going on, but they were both so well behaved.

There was a lot for Bumble to look at while we ate our ice cream at Sonic.  When we got home, they both crashed, exhausted from their outing.  LOL.  We’ll go to the Car Hop next time and get fried Oreos.
