My Bitty Babies!!!

The only thing that I love more than my books are my critters.  I have four beasties, and they are all special to me.

The puppies Poppy and Bumble -

After being miserable without a dog in the house, Dean finally caved and told me to find one to rescue.  I found two!  While I didn’t originally want puppies, I couldn’t resist their happy little faces.  They were about 8 weeks old when we brought them home, and it has been a joy watching them grow from little puppies into dogs.  The first couple of weeks were a lot of work!

Elle:

This is Elle.  She is a Morgan.  I don’t have very many pictures of her, because she’s a new member of the family.  She is going on two years old in this picture, and will hopefully be showing  in the Park Harness division this summer. (She did!)

Updated – November 2011

Elle had a great show season this year!  Here are pix of her strutting her stuff:

We showed her English Pleasure at her first show this year, and she was the reserve driving champ!

I love this picture of her – she looks strong and bold

Here she is with trainer Travis at the World Championship Morgan Horse Show.  I love the flapping ribbon.

Pixie is a Morgan, too.  She became part of the family June 2012.  I don’t have pictures yet, but I’ll put them up as soon as I do.  She shows in the Classic Pleasure division.

Buu:

Sadly, Buu crossed the Rainbow bridge in July 2012.  I still miss him terribly, and have a really hard time talking about him without bursting into tears.  He developed a neurologic condition and declined in health rapidly.

Buu is a rescue, and despite some quirks here and there, he has settled down and learned how to trust people again.  He may be over one hundred pounds, but he thinks he is a little lap dog.  Greenies are his favorite thing in the world, and he makes sure he lets us know when he wants one!

This is one of the few moments when he is actually lying down and just chilling.  He would much rather be running around the house, playing.

He’s eating broccoli here.  Hard to see, I know, but fresh veggies are among his favorite treats.  Nothing beats the goodness of a Greenie, though.

This is Blondie.  She is an American Saddlebred.  She knows that she is pretty, and she acts like a prima donna, but I love her anyway.  Update – Blondie has moved on to another owner who wanted to bred her and show her western.  I wish them both many happy trails together!

Here she is, staring off into the sunset.  Probably wishing someone would bring her a fresh flake of hay.  One thing the ponies love to do is eat.  All the time, eating!  She gets a bit pudgy in the winter, but after she goes back to work in the spring, she quickly looks like the athlete she is.

Blondie at Ludington.  She shows in the Show Pleasure division, and she rides and drives.  When she feels like it.

  Blondie with her ears on.

This is Nyk.  He is also a Morgan, but he shows in the Classic Pleasure division.  I don’t own him any more, but he helped me gain so much confidence and taught me how to show.  He will always be special to me.
