Meet Anthony Keaton from One Rogue Too Many by Samantha Grace and Giveaway!

This morning I have an interview with Anthony Keaton from One Rogue Too Many by Samantha Grace.  I also have a surprise special guest, and a giveaway for you to enter for a chance to win a copy of One Rogue Too Many!

Manga Maniac Café: Good morning, Anthony!  Can you please describe yourself in five words or less.

Anthony (rubs his chin, considering the question): I would say industrious.

Anthony tilts his blonde head in expectation, waiting for the interviewer to speak.

A voice comes from offstage: That’s it? Industrious? Have you nothing more to add?

Anthony swings toward the voice: Gabby?

Lady Gabrielle Forest walks on stage, smiling politely at the interviewer: I’m so sorry to interrupt, but I heard Anthony would be here today and I was afraid he might be a difficult interview.

Anthony stands as she crosses the stage, a big grin in place: I’m not difficult.

Gabby: Anthony, you were asked to describe yourself in five words.

Anthony: Or less, Lady Bug. One word is less than five.

Once Gabby is seated on the settee, Anthony joins her.

Gabby playfully rolls her eyes: I’m sure the intention was to get you to talk about yourself. Granted, industriousness is an honorable characteristic, but you are also loyal, humorous, handsome, and too quiet by half.

Anthony shrugs, proving her point that he’s a man of few words.

Manga Maniac Café: Can you share a typical day in the life of Anthony Keaton?

Gabby: Yes, what do you get up to when you aren’t whisking me off to Gunter’s or taking me for rides in the park?

Anthony: I have responsibilities. I attend meetings at the House of Lords. I have my daughter. I stop by the gentlemen’s club…

Gabby: I heard you spend a lot of time competing with Lord Thorne. Something about a sausage eating contest?

Anthony (red flush climbs his face and he rubs the back of his neck): Yes, well. Sometimes Thorne needs to be put in his place.

Gabby: But doesn’t he usually win?

Manga Maniac Café: What three words come to mind when you think of Gabby?

Anthony: At this moment, or when she isn’t vexing me? (winks at Gabby with a teasing grin) She is breathtaking, to be sure, but she’s also very clever, loving, and sensitive. She is an artist, so she is more observant than most. I admire her ability to see extraordinary things in the ordinary. (bumps his shoulder against hers affectionately) See, I can say more than one word.

Gabby beams at him, a pink blush making her cheeks rosy.

Manga Maniac Café: What do you find most exasperating about her?

Anthony: Sometimes I think she is too sensitive, and she may overreact on occasion, but artists are temperamental, are they not?

Gabby: I don’t mean to be that way.

Anthony (takes her hand): And I never intend to be stubborn, but we get on well despite our shortcomings.

Manga Maniac Café: If you could change one thing you’ve done in your life, what would it be?

Anthony (swallows hard): I—I would have been more careful with Gabby’s heart. I never meant to hurt her. I would take it all back if I could.

Gabby smiles at him.

Manga Maniac Café: What’s one thing you won’t leave home without?

Anthony: A gentleman never leaves home without his gloves and hat, and I’m fond of my walking stick. One never knows when it will become necessary to beat back other rogues trying to steal my woman.

Gabby (snorts): Neanderthal.

Despite her comment, she appears pleased by his assertion.

Manga Maniac Café: How do you relax after a hard day trying to win back your lady?

Anthony: I like to have dinner with my daughter in the nursery. I haven’t been a permanent figure in her life until recently. I’m trying to learn how to be a good father.

Gabby (squeezes his hand): I’m sure you are an excellent father.

Manga Maniac Café: Can you share your dreams for the future in five words or less?

Anthony (counts words on his fingers as he speaks): Gabby at my side forever. I like those five words best.

Manga Maniac Café: Thank you!

Anthony: The pleasure was all mine.

Author Samantha Grace: I would like to thank Manga Maniac Café for inviting Anthony to be a guest and for graciously allowing Gabby to join in. And thanks so much for the opportunity to share a little about two of my favorite characters. It’s always fun to visit the Café.

From the Betting Book at Brook’s Gentleman’s Club:

Wager: £2,000 that Lord Ellis will throw the first punch when he discovers Lord Throne is wooing a certain duke’s sister.

All Bets Are Off When the Game is Love…

Lady Gabrielle is thrilled when Anthony Keaton, earl of Ellis, asks for her hand in marriage. She’s not so pleased when he then leaves the country and four months pass without a word. Clearly, the scoundrel has changed his mind and is too cowardly to tell her. There’s nothing to do but go back on the marriage mart…

When Anthony returns to town and finds his ultimate rival has set sights on Gabby, his continual battle of one-upmanship with Sebastian Thorne ceases to be a game. Anthony is determined to win back the woman who holds his heart–but he’s not expecting Gabby herself to up the stakes…

Historical romance author Samantha Grace discovered the appeal of a great love story when she was just a young girl, thanks to Disney’s “Robin Hood”. She didn’t care that Robin Hood and Maid Marian were cartoon animals. It was her first happily-ever-after experience and she didn’t want the warm fuzzies to end. Now that Samantha is grown, she enjoys creating her own happy-endings for characters that spring from her imagination. Publisher’s Weekly describes her stories as “fresh and romantic” with subtle humor and charm. Samantha describes romance writing as the best job ever.

Part-time hospice social worker, moonlighting author, and Pilates nut, she enjoys a happy and hectic life with her real life hero and two kids in the Midwest.

Woohoo! That was fun. Anthony was not…well, maybe he was what I expected but Gabby was totally not what expected. I guess love changes a person right?

Were you always this straight forward Gabby?

Gabby: Oh no, Ki Pha. My mama taught me ladies should always be mild mannered and meek.

Anthony tosses his head back and laughs. Gabby’s giggles joins his hearty laughter.

Anthony: Anyone who has met the duchess would believe no such thing. Don’t let Gabby fool you, she has always been free with her words. And she has never had any qualms about putting her brothers or me in our places. 🙂

Thank you, Betty! Good luck in the drawing and happy reading! 🙂

Anthony: Gabby’s nickname wasn’t exactly a term of endearment in the beginning. When she was a young girl, she bedeviled her brothers and me to no end. She followed us everywhere, demanding to be part of our fun. Boys haven’t the time for pesky little sisters dogging their heels, so I began calling her bug, since she was making a pest of herself. Then one day she stomped her foot and demanded I offer the courtesy due her. I’ve addressed her as Lady Bug ever since. And now the nickname is nothing but an endearment. 🙂

Anthony tugs at his cravat as if it has grown too tight: I’d rather not discuss it.
Gabby: Marcy, he refuses to share any details, but I suspect the baron was up to mischief and poor Anthony was his mark. Lord Thorne is a clever fellow.
Anthony frowns darkly: The man is a menace.
Gabby smiles: Yes, but he’s an entertaining menace.
