[Manga Maniac Cafe] Good morning, Taryn! Can you describe yourself in five words or less.
[Taryn/Shona] mortal world loving fairy
[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you share a typical day in your life?
[Taryn/Shona] Pre or post Annwyn? Before going to Annwyn my day was normal, I was like any other twenty something. I went to work, much to my parents horror, made friends but never let them too close in case they worked out that I didn’t really belong in the mortal world. It’s a bit hard to have people round when you don’t actually have a house and your just kind of lodging in someone else’s. My parents are Brownies, which is basically fairy house cleaners, for a changeling.
In Annwyn there is no such thing as a normal day—you know time moves differently between Annwyn and the mortal world, right?
After getting my father’s pardon it’s been kind of crazy too. I spend most of my time running between Court and the mortal world. Life will be so much easier when Felan finally claims the throne.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three words come to mind when you think of Verden?
[Taryn/Shona] *smiles* romantic (don’t tell him I said that it would really damage his reputation), tough (climbing from farm hand to Lord of the Hunt isn’t easy), caring (again he’d probably hate that as he’s mean to be the cool calm dealer of the King’s justice, and he wouldn’t want people to think he has a heart).
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What do you find most exasperating about him?
[Taryn/Shona] He holds on to fairy ideals without realizing how restrictive they are. I know he hasn’t spent much time around humans but he needs to loosen up and stop calculating ten moves into the future all the time.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] If you could change one thing you’ve done in your life, what would it be?
[Taryn/Shona] I would probably have been less bratty with my parents. It wasn’t until I was in Annwyn that I really understood what had happened and why they were living in the mortal world or the sacrifices they’d made to be together. I get that now, and I realize that raising a fairy child in the mortal world can’t have been easy.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What’s one thing you won’t leave home without?
[Taryn/Shona] Money. I know I could trick people into thinking I’ve paid with a glamour but it just doesn’t feel right. Mortals can’t help it that they can see through fairy tricks and fairies shouldn’t take advantage of that.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] How do you relax after a hard day trying to prevent the death of your parents?
[Taryn/Shona] Unlike most fairies I actually like alcohol (unless I was in Annwyn and then I’d pass, that would be dangerous drinking there) so I’d have a glass of wine or something. I also like the beach, but not the ocean and I love going to concerts—I’m still trying to convince Verden that they are fun. He much prefers escaping to some isolated wild and pretending the rest of the world doesn’t exist.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you share your dreams for the future in five words or less.
[Taryn/Shona] freedom from Court. That’s all I want. All Verden wants. We want to live our own lives.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] Thank you!
[Taryn/Shona] You’re welcome….sure you don’t want to make a deal? Ha, I’m joking! I don’t really want your soul or first born ?
