Meet Stephen MacAlasdair from Isabel Cooper’s Legend of the Highland Dragon and Giveaway!

Please welcome Stephen MacAlasdair to the virtual offices this morning!

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Describe yourself in five words or less.

[Stephen] A man of two faces.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you share a typical day in the life of Stephen MacAlasdair?

[Stephen] I rise early. My servants don’t need much instruction—I’m not a troublesome man by most accounts—so the morning’s generally taking care of my family’s business. Under normal circumstances, I’d then visit museums, or go and talk with scholars, with lunch at my club somewhere along the line. The last few months not being normal, I’ve been mostly occupied trying to find a homicidal sorcerer, which disrupts my schedule somewhat. Regardless, I’m home and in a secured room well before sunset: I’ll not take any chances with my transformation. After I’m myself again, I’ve been accustomed to taking in the sights of London, and even seeing the occasional show; I’m fond of the theater. Just at the moment, I’m also dealing with an unexpected houseguest.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three words come to mind when you think of Mina?

[Stephen]  “Practical,” “determined,” and “unsettling.” The last’s mostly because of the first two, although her looks play a part as well.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What do you find most exasperating about her?

[Stephen] The woman makes a weapon out of duty, I swear. I’ve met soldiers less dedicated to their jobs—and less aggressive about it—let alone typewriter girls.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] If you could change one thing you’ve done in your life, what would it be?

[Stephen] I should never have trusted Ward. Even from the very start, it seemed that there was something off about him: I should have gotten the money another way, and not let him within fifty miles of our expedition.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What’s one thing you won’t leave home without?

[Stephen]  I generally have everything I need at my fingertips, so to speak. These days, though, I’m inclined to go out armed, just in case.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What do you like to do when you’re not terrifying British professors and their staff?

[Stephen] I take an interest in history, particularly when it explains—or might explain—where my family came from. We’ve lost a great deal of knowledge over the years. I’d like to get it back. I also enjoy more common forms of entertainment, though not as much as my brother Colin does.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you share your dreams for the future in five words or less.

[Stephen] Study, stability, and a family.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Thank you!

[Stephen] Very much obliged to you.

He Guards a Ferocious Secret…

In Victorian England, gossip is often as precious as gold. But the Highlanders are a more mysterious bunch. And if anyone found out that Stephen MacAlasdair really was, he’d be hunted down, murdered, his clan wiped out. As he’s called to London on business, he’ll have to be extra vigilant—especially between sunset and the appearance of the first evening star.

Mina just wanted to find out more about the arrogant man who showed up in her employer’s office. Some might say it was part of her job. She never thought the stranger would turn into a dragon right in front of her. Or that he’d then offer her an outrageous sum of money to serve as his personal secretary. Working together night and day to track a dangerous enemy, Mina comes to see a man in love is more powerful and determined than any dragon.

Love the premise of Legend of the Highland Dragon – a Highlander who’s a dragon, what could be better? I’m really looking forward to reading Stephen and Mina’s story, it sounds fantastic.

Adding to my TBR pile since I haven’t read a dragon shifter story.
