Interview with Zoe Forward, Author of Forgotten in Darkness and Giveaway!

Please give a warm welcome to Zoe Forward this morning!

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Good morning, Zoe!  Can you please describe yourself?

[Zoe Forward] Thank you for having me drop by! I’m celebrating the release of the second in the Scimitar Magi paranormal series, Forgotten in Darkness. I love writing about hot alpha badboys and mixing in a bit of ancient Egyptian legend. I’m also a veterinarian, mom of one young son, and total readaholic.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you tell us a little about Forgotten in Darkness?

[Zoe Forward] In Forgotten In Darkness the techno-challenged super hot magus, Dakar, is abruptly released into our modern world after two centuries in purgatory. Being back means he’ll have to face murdering the woman he’s loves. He’s stuck in a vicious cycle of reincarnation and death with his soulmate, Shay. An evil sorcerer and ex-Pharaoh cursed him eons ago after Dakar denied the Pharaoh the opportunity to make her his third wife. To break the curse a renowned shaman advised he do the opposite of instinct. He believes that means he must kill her, something he’s never been able to do.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] How did you come up with the concept and the characters for the story?

[Zoe Forward] The idea for the Scimitar Magi really just came to me all at once. I love the mystery and art of ancient Egypt. So, I created this small band of heroes trying to make it in a modern world while obeying rules set down by ancient gods. Everything came together at the right creative moment — my love of Egyptian mythology, my long-time passion for archaeology, my ideas about a new type of paranormal hero and more. It all just gelled.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three words best describe Shay?

[Zoe Forward] She’s smart, gutsy, and loyal. Okay some might exchange the gutsy word with “impulsive”.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] If Shay had a theme song, what would it be?

[Zoe Forward] Invincible by Pat Benatar

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Name one thing Dakar is never without.

[Zoe Forward] His Scimitar totem – a flat golden pendant called a menat. Each magus is given a totem by the gods when inducted, although the item is different for each warrior.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three things will you never find in Dakar’s pocket?

[Zoe Forward] Cell phone, Chapstick, wallet

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What is Shay’s greatest regret?

[Zoe Forward] Killing Dakar countless times in past lives, not that she had control over this since they were cursed to do so.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What are your greatest creative influences?

[Zoe Forward] I’ve got so many influences. My interest in paranormal romance started with Ann Rice and then I moved on to the masters of paranormal romance such as J.R.Ward and Christine Feehan. I’m also a huge sci fi and action-adventure fan. And a shameless addict to Game of Thrones. Fav movies include the newest Star Trek movie (wasn’t the newest one awesome?), Indiana Jones, and Lord of the Rings.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three things do you need in order to write?

[Zoe Forward] Computer, time, and a good soundtrack.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What is the last book that you read that knocked your socks off?

[Zoe Forward] Gotta give it to Bill the Vampire by Rick Gualtieri, which was one of the funniest books I’ve ever read. It’s worth a try…give it the first chapter and if you’re laughing, then it’s not for you.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] If you had to pick one book that turned you on to reading, which would it be?

[Zoe Forward] I’ve been a voracious reader since I can remember. The earliest book I recall being enthralled with was A Wrinkle in Time by M. L’Engle. Now if we’re talking romance novels then the two that turned me on to the genre were Remembrance by Jude Devereaux and Mirror Image by Sandra Brown.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What do you like to do when you aren’t writing?

[Zoe Forward] LOL. Hanging out with family.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] How can readers connect with you?

[Zoe Forward] I love to hear from readers! Read more about my books and get info on giveaways:

About the book:

After an unjustified two-century stint in purgatory, Scimitar Magus Dakar returns to the human realm, renewing his eons-old curse. Either he or the woman he loves must murder the other within days of meeting in each new lifetime. To break the vicious cycle, he must kill her before she strikes her deathblow, something he’s never done in the past.
Archaeology grad student Shay McGinnis suffers a near-death attack in pursuit of a piece of Scimitar Magi lore. But did the magnificent warrior who pinned her to the wall injure her or the daemon he fought? In her search for answers, she draws the attention of both an ancient evil sorcerer and the warrior Dakar. The attraction between her and Dakar is instant, and for Shay confusing. She wants to be with him, but intuition equates him with death. Not random death. Hers.

Will this be the lifetime they break the curse before they are murdered by an age-old enemy or worse kill each other yet again?

***Warning: Contains explicit sex, graphic language, action-adventure, and an exceptionally hot tatted hero.**
