Meet Britton Townsend from The Awakening: Britton by Abby Niles and Giveaway!

Please give a warm welcome to Britton Townsend  this morning!

“Good morning, beautiful.” Britton leaned back against the wood chair and flashed a killer half-smile. “Thanks for having me today.”

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Describe yourself in five words or less.

He shook his head. “Nope. Penning me down to five words is impossible. I’m much more interesting than that.”

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you share a typical day in the life of Detective Brit Townsend?

He fought to keep a relaxed expression. “It’s actually Officer Townsend. The detective bit is temporary. But I’ve got a pretty sweet gig. I’ve taken an oath of honor to serve and protect. And that’s what I do.”

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three words come to mind when you think of Val?

The smile that was already feeling forced immediately pinched into a scowl.

“Do we really need to talk about her?”

Silence answered his questions and he clenched his teeth. “Fine. How about: Cold. Hearted. Shrew. Blunt enough?”

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What do you find most exasperating about her?

The question should be what I don’t find exasperating about her. That list is much shorter since there’s nothing on it.

Dea, he sounded like a complete ass. But that was what Val did to him. Turned him into jerk. Thankfully, she was the only person who did this to him. He hated who he became around her, but he couldn’t seem to control his emotions.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] If you could change one thing you’ve done in your life, what would it be?

Man, this woman was hell-bent on bringing up crap he didn’t want to talk about. Tension stiffened his muscles as he inhaled deeply and averted his gaze over Julie’s shoulder, staring at nothing, lost in memory…lost in the moment when everything changed. He didn’t talk about that night. Ever. But she wanted an answer, and she’d get one. He forced his attention back to her.

“How I did it. I don’t regret doing it. I would do it again in a heartbeat, but I’d go about it differently. Keep myself from breaking shifter law, so I could have helped my friends when they needed me most.”

He hated voicing his failures. Unable to keep eye contact any longer, his gaze strayed over her shoulder again.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What’s one thing you won’t leave home without?

The tension released. Had she taken the hint that he wanted to steer clear of personal questions?

“My gun.” He winked.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] How do you relax after a hard day restraining yourself from killing your partner?

Val? Again. He smothered a groan.

“We’re not partners. Neither of us would survive a punishment that horrible. This is temporary.”

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you share your dreams for the future in five words or less.

Now they were treading into a topic he could jump all over. He shifted to the edge of his chair and leaned forward with his elbows on his knees. Putting in every bit of his Britton Townsend charm, he purred, “Women are the Dea’s gift to men and should be treated with respect and utter adoration. My goal is make up for every man who has disrespected this blessing and made a woman feel less than she’s worth. All women are beautiful and should be made to feel that way.” He sits back, allowing a full smile to appear. “That was more than five words. Sorry about that. I don’t do things fast. Slow and thorough are more my style.” He winked again.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Thank you!

“Oh no, thank you.” He stands. “Would the gorgeous lady sitting before me allow me the honor of her presence over dinner and drinks after I solve this case?”

Abby Niles, who was sitting in the back of the room, rolled her eyes. Yeah, that wouldn’t be happening. Sorry, Julie.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Fighting off a disappointed frown.  Darn it.

Tagline: There’s a thin line between love and hate…

Book Description:

"I would lick that man up one side and down the other."

Half-shifter and lead SPAC agent, Val Calhoun, has listened to women gush over the Don Juan of the precinct for the last four years. Yeah, Detective Britton Townsend is hot and has stunning blue eyes, but that foul mouth he saves only for her? What a waste of good looks. And no way does Val want that mouth anywhere near hers.

When the shifter community is threatened, Val is assigned to the case…and fails. So the High Council turns to the rogue shifter they’d sentenced to twenty years as a human–that same obnoxiously sexy Detective Townsend. And sends the two arch-enemies deep into the North Carolina Mountains-—together, and alone.

Being stuck in a tiny honeymoon cabin with Miss Castration and only one bed is definitely not Britton’s idea of a good time. But the High Council doesn’t take no for an answer. After his shifter abilities are restored, Brit is once again susceptible to the dreaded, irreversible bonding instinct, the Drall. Thankfully, all he’s ever felt for Val is intense loathing, no reason to worry. Right? All he has to do is solve this case pronto, and he can go back to his footloose Casanova ways. That is, if they don’t kill each other first. Or worse…fall in love.

About the Author:

Ever since Abby Niles picked up her first Sweet Valley High book in sixth grade and fell in love with Elizabeth and Todd, she’s been hooked on romance. By the time she reached high school, she was devouring meatier romances with pirates, cowboys and knights. She never imagined that those years of reading would one day lead to her becoming a published author.

In her late twenties, after having twins and becoming a stay-at-home mom, she started doodling stories to keep her sanity. Next thing she knew, she was actually submitting to publishing houses. And was immediately rejected. That didn’t stop her though. She found some kickass critique partners, honed her craft, and continued submitting.

And eventually sold.

Today, she juggles work, being a single mom, and writing. It’s not always easy, but hey, who said life was easy?

Abby is the author of the contemporary MMA romance, Extreme Love, the first book in her Love to the Extreme series. Fighting Love is scheduled to release in December of 2013 and Winning Love isscheduled for 2014. She is also the author of the dark paranormal romance series The Awakening: Aidanand the The Awakening: Liam. The Awakening: Britton is scheduled to release in November 2013.Both series are with Entangled Publishing. She also has a geeky romantic comedy, Defying Convention, with Carina Press.
