[Manga Maniac Cafe] Good morning, Rhian! Can you please describe yourself in 140 characters or less.
[Rhian Cahill] Indescribable.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you tell us a little about Secret Santa?
[Rhian Cahill] Secret Santa is a sweet little Christmas novella that tells the story a man who’s had enough of waiting for the woman he loves to notice him. He makes a plan and with the help of a set of fake Secret Santa envelopes he’ll convince the woman of his dreams that he’s the best Christmas present she could wish for.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] How did you come up with the concept and the characters for the story?
[Rhian Cahill] Morgan was first mentioned in New Year’s Kisses and I knew at some point I’d have to write his story but it wasn’t until I wrote Valentine’s Dates that I found his heroine. Of course they happen to work together so neither has been willing to act on their feelings until now. The idea of the Secret Santa envelopes came from my own family’s Christmas. We have a kind of Christmas lottery each year where everyone picks an envelope and inside is the name of the person they’re buying for. I’ve always wondered what would happen if someone rigged the draw one year.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] If you had a theme song, what would it be?
[Rhian Cahill] A theme song? I wouldn’t have a clue. Is there one called crazy town?
[Manga Maniac Cafe] Name one thing you won’t leave home without.
[Rhian Cahill] A book.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three things do you need in order to write?
[Rhian Cahill] My computer, music and tea. Hot tea.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What is the last book that you read that knocked your socks off?
[Rhian Cahill] I just finished Rumor Has It by Jill Shalvis. She always knocks my socks off.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] If you had to pick one book that turned you on to reading, which would it be?
[Rhian Cahill] It would be a series of books. The Enchanted Wood, The Magic Faraway Tree, and The Folk of the Faraway Tree. I remember reading and re-reading them so many times I had to buy new copies because they fell apart.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What do you like to do when you aren’t writing?
[Rhian Cahill] Read. Oh, and spend time with the tribe.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] How can readers connect with you?
[Rhian Cahill] They can get all info on me from my website – http://www.rhiancahill.com/ I’m on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/RhianCahillAuthor Twitter – https://twitter.com/RhianCahill and I share a reader loop with some other authors – http://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Heat_Wave_Readers/info
