Interview with Shannon Curtis, Author of Enamoured

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Good morning, Shannon!  Can you please describe yourself in 140 characters or less.

[Shannon Curtis] Mostly normal, easygoing – love the romance of fairy tales and the dark twists of murder and evil. But I’m mostly normal.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you tell us a little about Enamoured?

[Shannon Curtis] Mel wants her abusive stepdad gone, Cole works a fraud case undercover, while Esmerelda & Rumpelstiltskin oversee their Frog Prince tale.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] How did you come up with the concept and the characters for the story?

[Shannon Curtis] Inspired by fairy tales, but I also like murder and suspense, so it started out different in today’s world. Then Rump and Essie took over.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] If you had a theme song, what would it be?

[Shannon Curtis] Remix, @NKOTB. I think I’ve grown more confident with my accomplishments, more self-assured. I get better with age, or so I delude myself!

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Name one thing  you won’t leave home without.

[Shannon Curtis] It used to be a Swiss army knife. Now I’m happy if I remember my shoes. Keys, phone – they’re hit and miss. Shoes are a definite, though.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three things do you need in order to write?

[Shannon Curtis] Headphones. Tunes. Chocolate. Music helps me get in the headspace, earphones block everything else out, and chocolate – well, it’s CHOCOLATE

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What is the last book that you read that knocked your socks off?

[Shannon Curtis] Divergent, @VeronicaRoth. LOVED IT! She’s created a fascinating world that just sucks you in. Great conflict, great characters: great read.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] If you had to pick one book that turned you on to reading, which would it be?

[Shannon Curtis] Trixie Belden: The Secret of the Mansion. It hooked me into the Trixie Belden series, then Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, The Three Investigators.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What do you like to do when you aren’t writing?

[Shannon Curtis] Watch movies and catch up with friends/family. Writing is a hibernation, I need to top up on personal contact – and I love movies. LOVE ‘EM.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] How can readers connect with you?

[Shannon Curtis] I like to chat, and www.shannoncurtis.com has all my contact info. I love getting emails, tweets, etc. Like a puppy, happy to play anytime.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Thank you!

About the book:

For readers of Stephanie Bond and Darynda Jones, fairy tales as you’ve never seen them before. The debut in a series that mixes suspense, sex, and just a sprinkle of fairy dust.
Once Upon a Crime…

Melanie wants to get incriminating information on her evil stepfather and she’ll get it – even if it means giving in to an odious toad’s demands. Cole is undercover, and when the opportunity arises for him to get closer to the criminal he’s investigating using the man’s beautiful stepdaughter, he grabs it.

Esmerelda is a Fairy Godmother Enforcer charged with getting the Frog Prince fairytale back on track. But fate has saddled her with a partner, and Rumpelstiltskin – with his sexy bad boy swagger – has a hidden agenda of his own.
