[Manga Maniac Cafe] Good morning, Libby! Can you please describe yourself in 140 characters or less.
[Libby Bishop] Bibliophile. Lover of laughter, autumn, family, fishing, and horror movies. I harbor an obsession for Lindt dark chocolate, the Syfy Channel and The Walking Dead!
[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you tell us a little about Ghosts of Kingston Cottage?
[Libby Bishop] Ultimately, the story is about a woman who is trying to learn to trust again after having her heart broken. She’s a medium and a paranormal investigator with a strong dislike of skeptics- for good reasons. But her latest investigation puts her in close quarters with a rather sexy and smart one. The ghosts she’s trying to reunite remind her that sometimes, the dead can teach the a thing or two to living- including how to open your heart when it’s been crushed.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] How did you come up with the concept and the characters for the story?
[Libby Bishop] *laughs* I was actually washing the dishes one night and as I grabbed the cast iron pan, a scene between my heroine and hero jumped into my head (that scene is in the book!). I didn’t want to lose the scene so I stopped what I was doing and wrote it down. The next morning, Arabella- my heroine- came to me and the story just took off. The other characters just marched up front and center- no struggling for names for this story!
The concept was natural for me because I love ghosts, and I love watching shows about ghosts. It didn’t surprise me that Arabella turned out to be a medium and a paranormal investigator.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three words best describe Arabella?
[Libby Bishop] Loving, loyal, and strong-willed.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] If Lucas had a theme song, what would it be?
[Libby Bishop] Well, when he was walking up the boat ramp, "Oh Yeah" by Yello jumped into my head and Arabella’s LOL.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] Name one thing Arabella is never without.
[Libby Bishop] A hoodie- ghosts tend to lower the temperature.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three things will you never find in Lucas’ bedroom?
[Libby Bishop] Carpet (he hates carpet!), a television, and a bed without a headboard (for reasons that will go unnamed!)
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What is Arabella’s greatest regret?
[Libby Bishop] Closing her heart to love after it was broken one too many times.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What are your greatest creative influences?
[Libby Bishop] In terms of authors- far too many! I tend to be influenced more by television and movies, and being outside and observing people.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three things do you need in order to write?
[Libby Bishop] Background noise (music, tv), a mug of tea or hot cocoa, and no one else in the room. I need to be alone to write.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What was your biggest distraction while working on Ghosts of Kingston Cottage?
[Libby Bishop] The television, funnily enough. If I looked up at it while writing I got distracted but if I didn’t look up I was fine
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What is the last book that you read that knocked your socks off?
[Libby Bishop] Dweller on the Threshold by Rinda Elliott.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] If you had to pick one book that turned you on to reading, which would it be?
[Libby Bishop] The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton. I have that sucker memorized!
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What do you like to do when you aren’t writing?
[Libby Bishop] Walking outside, hanging with friends, and reading.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] How can readers connect with you?
[Libby Bishop] They can find me at my website- libbybishopromance.wordpress.com
And Facebook- www.facebook.com/libbybishopromance
[Manga Maniac Cafe] Thank you!
About the book:
Ghosts of Kingston Cottage by Libby Bishop
Genre: Ghosts, Paranormal Romance
Tagline: He wants proof only she can help him find.
She believes in ghosts.
Medium and paranormal investigator Arabella Pierce is sent with her crew to Kingston Cottage, a haunted Maine seafarer’s cottage on an isolated island, but for this investigation, her boss has stuck them with skeptical reporter Lucas Brown. Though he’s hot as they come, Arabella can’t trust a man whose sole job is to discredit her and the work she does. Not after what happened with the last few skeptics…
He believes in evidence.
But Lucas isn’t as skeptical as he seems—he wants the truth, no matter what that is. When the ghosts appear, he and Arabella must work together—in tight quarters—to convince the resident ghosts to move on before a storm strands the entire crew on the island. If Arabella can put aside her prejudices, she and Lucas just might have a shot at a lifetime.
