Please give Sarah Castille a warm welcome this morning! She’s here to chat about Against the Ropes, and she even brought a copy for one of you to win!
[Manga Maniac Café] Describe yourself in 140 characters or less.
[Sarah Castille] Shuttler of monsters, giver of treats
Author of stories so hot they burn sheets
Living the dream in Canada’s West
Smokin’ hot smex is what I write best
[Manga Maniac Café] Can you tell us a little about Against the Ropes?
[Sarah Castille] A young college grad starts working at an underground mixed martial arts club and falls hard for its smolderingly seductive owner only to discover she is not the only one with a secret to hide.
[Manga Maniac Café] How did you come up with the concept and characters for the story?
[Sarah Castille] I got lost on my way through a familiar city, as you do, and wound up asking for directions at an MMA gym. One thing led to another and I wound up spending an hour meeting the fighters, touring the gym and learning about MMA. One fighter really stood out as being an alpha among alphas, a true leader. He became my Torment. As I was leaving, I wondered how an ordinary girl would fare in the MMA world, someone slightly naive and self-conscious. Suddenly I had my heroine. And my story.
[Manga Maniac Café] What three words best describe Makayla?
[Sarah Castille] Curvy
[Manga Maniac Café] If Max had a theme song, what would it be?
[Sarah Castille] Rolling in the Deep by Adele
[Manga Maniac Café] Name one thing Makayla is never without
[Sarah Castille] Her muffin top
[Manga Maniac Café] What three things will you never find in Max’s bedroom?
[Sarah Castille] Pajamas (why wear them when they are just coming off?)
The Joy of Sex/Kama Sutra (there isn’t anything he doesn’t know)
Any woman other than Makayla
[Manga Maniac Café] What are your greatest creative influences?
[Sarah Castille] My mom (a gifted story teller)
Alphonse Mucha, a Czech Art Nouveau painter (every painting tells a story).
Leonard Cohen (sigh, swoon)
[Manga Maniac Café] What three things do you need in order to write?
[Sarah Castille] Quiet, coffee, quiet, more coffee, and did I mention my owls?
[Manga Maniac Café] What was your biggest distraction while working on Against the Ropes?
[Sarah Castille] Amazon One-Click. Oh, that looks good. Click. What about that one? Click. I love this author. Click. Awesome cover. Click. 99 cents? Click. Click. Click
[Manga Maniac Café] What is the last book that you read that knocked your socks off?
[Sarah Castille] Motorcycle Man by Kristen Ashley. Does anyone have socks on after reading it?
[Manga Maniac Café] If you had to pick one book that turned you on to reading, which would it be?
[Sarah Castille] Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Must support Canadian authors otherwise might have mentioned The Princess and the Goblin by George MacDonald, published in 1892! A good story is always a good story.
