Meet Caspian Mort From Shona Husk’s The Outcast Prince and Giveaway!

Please welcome a very special guest this morning!  Caspian Mort, hero of Shona Husk’s The Outcast Prince, has dropped by the virtual offices to answer a few questions.  After the interview, he has a copy of The Outcast Prince for one of you to win!

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Describe yourself in five words or less.

[Caspian] Changeling, divorced, psychometric (which isn’t as much fun as it sounds).

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you share a typical day in the life of Caspian Mort?

[Caspian] I always top up the tea and cookies for the Brownies that keep my house clean before I go to work, then I spend the day in the shop. While I’m there I look up the details on any antique that I need to legitimately verify—most people wouldn’t accept a psychometric valuation even if they believed in it. I also have a newspaper column to write and I sometimes to insurance valuation, less often deceased estates.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three words come to mind when you think of Lydia?

[Caspian] Smart, caring, beautiful.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What do you find most exasperating about her?

[Caspian] She cares too much about what other people think. I guess growing up a Callaway has made her really conscious about how people judge her and her family, but you can’t live for other people’s expectations.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] If you could change one thing you’ve done in your life, what would it be?

[Caspian] Not buy the damn Rococo mirror that caught the Grey’s attention would be a good one, or possibly not marry my first wife. My fairy guardian never liked her and I never got around to telling her that I wasn’t as human as she thought. It didn’t end well.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What’s one thing you won’t leave home without?

[Caspian] Aside from the practical things like wallet, phone and keys? I don’t carry any good luck charms and I have no jewelry except for a ring my biological father gave me. By biological I mean fairy, that’s where the blue blood comes from, my mother was human.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What do you like to do when you aren’t searching for hidden portals to Annwyn?

[Caspian] I don’t make a habit of that. Avoiding all things fairy is a way to stay safe. Until I met Lydia, it’s easier not to be around people when you can’t tell them the truth. Talking about fairies is a quick way to get a psych evaluation. I always had a large puzzle set up in the house. And like most fairies, I like card games. I also like going to yard sales and auctions looking for the item everyone will overlook, knowing an objects history from one touch is very useful when it comes to antiques. It’s the gift I love to hate, but I can’t get rid of it so I use it as best I can.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you share your dreams for the future in five words or less.

[Caspian] Hopefully a normal life. Marriage

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Thank you!

[Caspian] You’re welcome.

About the book:

THE OUTCAST PRINCE BY SHONA HUSK – IN STORES JULY 2013

Just One Taste Is All It Takes…

This is no ordinary mirror. Caspian caught a hint of color, a whirl of a waltz just past his reflection—a glimpse into the decadent Fairy Court of Annwyn. The home he could never have. It called to him, whispering temptation after temptation…if he could only reclaim his rightful heritage.

To Be Forever Lost…

Caspian has an even stronger reason to stay in the world of humans. He’s just met a woman who captivates him like no other. But loving him has proven to be dangerous. And he will do whatever it takes to protect Lydia from the vicious, seductive world of Court—even if doing so requires the ultimate sacrifice: his soul.
