[Manga Maniac Café] Describe yourself in 140 characters or less.

[Ashlyn Chase] I’m like an Almond Joy bar. A little nutty, a little flaky, but basically sweet, wanting only to give my readers a satisfying romantic treat. Oh, and I’m a poet too—not.

[Manga Maniac Café] Can you tell us a little about Flirting Under A Full Moon?

[Ashlyn Chase] This is the first in a new series. It’s a spin-off of the very successful Strange Neighbors series. This book features Nick, the bad-boy twin brother of Konrad from The Werewolf Upstairs—book 2 in the Strange Neighbors series. Each book is a stand-alone, but if you’re like me, you’ll have to start at the beginning and go in order. If that’s the case, Strange Neighbors is book 1 in the original series. As I mentioned, TWU is book 2, and The Vampire Next Door is book 3. Then we have a new trilogy with a few recurring characters from the old series. The new series is like the original in that all the books can be read individually as stand-alones. For each there’s a unique beginning, a middle, and a happy ever after ending.

[Manga Maniac Café] How did you come up with the concept and the characters for the story?

[Ashlyn Chase] Believe it or not, I brainstormed the series arc with my niece who was twelve years old at the time. I shared a kernel of an idea and her imagination went wild! Before I knew it, I had one of the best characters in the whole series—a snarky Mother Nature—head of the supernatural council. Hey, someone has to keep these crazy characters in line!

[Manga Maniac Café] What three words best describe Brandee?

[Ashlyn Chase] Open-minded, creative, and caring

[Manga Maniac Café] If Nick had a theme song, what would it be?

[Ashlyn Chase] Bad to the Bone

[Manga Maniac Café] Name one thing Brandee is never without.

[Ashlyn Chase] Her old-school 35 mm camera—until she loses it in a freak tornado. But our hero finds a refurbished one just like it and buys it for her. (Insert ‘awww’ here.)

[Manga Maniac Café] What three things will you never find in Nick’s bedroom?

[Ashlyn Chase] Fragile antique furniture, frills, and the same woman twice.

[Manga Maniac Café] What is Brandee’s greatest regret?

[Ashlyn Chase] That artists have to make a living doing something else—in her case, waitressing.

[Manga Maniac Café] What are your greatest creative influences?

[Ashlyn Chase] My mother from whom I inherited my creativity and confidence to live my dream.

[Manga Maniac Café] What three things do you need in order to write?

[Ashlyn Chase] 1. Liquid. Can be coffee, tea or water. Must hydrate the brain. 2. Computer with spell check (I’m a terrible speller.) 3. A quiet environment. I need to hear the voices in my head. (I mean my characters voices, of course.)

[Manga Maniac Café] What is the last book that you read that knocked your socks off?

[Ashlyn Chase] Up in the Air. It’s a Blaze by Karen Foley. I don’t usually read military romances (being a peace-loving person) but it was great. I felt like I was right there in Afghanistan.

[Manga Maniac Café] If you had to pick one book that turned you on to reading, which would it be?

[Ashlyn Chase] Odd as this may sound, The Godfather. I was just getting over a broken heart, and this book took me away from it all—not literally. I was riveted to my chair for three days.

[Manga Maniac Café] What do you like to do when you aren’t writing?

[Ashlyn Chase] I like to make jewelry or see friends—or both if I’m visiting with someone creative.

[Manga Maniac Café] How can readers connect with you?

[Ashlyn Chase]

About the book:

Never Cry Werewolf…

Brandee has been dumped in every way possible, but by text is the last straw. That’s it—she’s officially done with men. Unfortunately, she’s just been told her "soul mate" is the drool-worthy hottie all her friends call One-Night Nick.

Nick has been searching for true love for one hundred years. After all, werewolves mate for life, and he does not want to mess this up. As soon as he kisses Brandee, he knows she’s the one. But how will he convince a woman who knows nothing of paranormals that she’s about to be bound to a werewolf forever?
