Michelle Cronwell-Jordan is the author of Night School, the kick-off for her YA paranormal series. Michelle dropped by the virtual offices for a chat about her writing and her books.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] Describe yourself in 140 characters or less.
[Michelle Cronwell-Jordan] I believe I am kind, courteous, helpful…at least I strive to be:)
I also believe I am adventurous, sometimes on the verge of reckless!
(Was that 140 characters???)
[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you tell us a little about Night School?
[Michelle Cronwell-Jordan] This is a story about a 16 year old girl whose parents have disappeared and she is left to watch out for her younger brother. They are sent to a residential school. There Dasheen learns that Vampires are real and that she is a hunter. Before she has a chance to get used to this, she is thrown into a battle to save her brother and the others she cares for.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] How did you come up with the concept and the characters for the story?
[Michelle Cronwell-Jordan] I love paranormal stories and personally I had not seen an old fashioned, vamps are bad and so there is a butt kicking slayer to save the day…not since Buffy The Vampire Slayer(which I loved;)
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three words best describe Dasheen?
[Michelle Cronwell-Jordan] Loyal, Courageous, Persistent
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What are three things Dasheen would never have in her room?
[Michelle Cronwell-Jordan] She would never have anything Pink.
Everything else is fine:)
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What is Dasheen’s single most prized possession?
[Michelle Cronwell-Jordan] A fossilized arrow head encircled in a Silver wire, that Dasheen wears as a necklace. This keepsake was left to Dasheen by her mother before she disappeared, when Dasheen was very young.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What are your greatest creative influences?
[Michelle Cronwell-Jordan] Children/Teens
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three things do you need in order to write?
[Michelle Cronwell-Jordan] Solitude
Music
Gummy Bears:)
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What is the last book that you read that knocked your socks off?
[Michelle Cronwell-Jordan] Twilight series
[Manga Maniac Cafe] If you had to pick one book that turned you on to reading, which would it be?
[Michelle Cronwell-Jordan] Judy Blume books
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What do you like to do when you aren’t writing?
[Michelle Cronwell-Jordan] Reading:)
