The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves –June 24 Edition

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba of The Caffeinated Book Reviewer. This is a weekly meme where we can share news of the week and highlight new books received.

Last weekend was the second horse show of the year.  I took Elle, and I drove her in one class.  I had the trainer drive her in the championship class, as well as ride her in the Junior Horse class.  I hope I can show her under saddle soon, but I don’t want to rush anything, so I’m taking a wait and see approach.  Elle drives so nicely for me, and I hate to have a mediocre saddle class the first time I try to ride her, just because I am being impatient.  Here are a few pictures from the show:

Here Elle is getting tacked for a harness class.

This is me driving her.  I was the only amateur in the Junior horse driving class, and I have to admit that I was a little nervous to be driving with all of the trainers.  One of the horses was kind of crazy Smile

This is Cool and my friend trotting into the arena.

If you like puppies, do not EVER go to a horse show!  All you will see are cute, fluffy puppies that you want to steal and bring home with you!

It was very hot and humid at the show, and it was playing havoc on my asthma, so I didn’t have the opportunity to take many pictures.  I hope that I will be able to snap a few more at the next show, which will be at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.  In other horsey news, I was finally able to pet the twins!  I helped give them vitamins, so I was able to hold them and cuddle with them.  The chestnut filly is my favorite, and she is soft and fuzzy like a stuffed animal.  They both weigh around 140 pounds now, and they are growing every day.

In terms of books, I had a crazy good week, with a constant barrage of awesomeness hitting the mailbox.  Lots of great MG and YA titles that I can’t wait to dive into!
