Cover Shot! King of Thorns by Mark Lawrence

I loved the cover for Prince of Thorns by Mark Lawrence, so I was happy to see that the cover for the follow-up, King of Thorns, is every bit as dramatic.  I love the details on the throne, and the flash of red from the fabric draped across the back.  The corpses scattered around it are visually arresting as well.  I need to make the time to start reading this series; it looks like something right up my alley!

In Book Two of the Broken Empire—a King must hold on by strength of arms what he took by torture and treachery.

King Jorg is a man haunted:by the ghost of a young boy, by a mysterious copper box, by his desire for the woman who rides with his enemy, and by the fact that his father still lives. Plagued by nightmares of the atrocities he committed, and of the atrocities committed against him when he was a child, he is filled with rage. And even as his need for revenge against his father continues to consume him, twenty thousand men march toward the gates of his castle.
His enemy is far stronger. Jorg knows that he cannot win a fair fight. But he has found, in a chamber hidden beneath the castle, ancient and long-lost artifacts. Some might call them magic. Jorg is not certain—all he knows is that the secrets they hold can be put to terrible use in the coming battle…

I loved the cover image for Prince of Thorns but I though it was ruined by the red font colour, here I am happy they didn’t continue down that path. Love the image I am assuming its the same artist – Jason Chan. Love his work!
