Ashes by Ilsa J Bick is a suspenseful, gripping read. It’s also got me completely stressed out, so I am hopping between it and Nowhere Girl.
With no sense of smell, your memories dropped like pennies out of a ripped pocket, until the past was ashes and your parents were blanks: nothing more than the holes in Swiss cheese. |
Nowhere Girl by A. J. Paquette is a riveting read, too! Young Luchi has lived her entire life in a Thai prison, but after her mother’s death, she has to venture into a scary new world beyond the prison walls that have always protected her. I love the prose and how beautifully the words fit together.
For the first time in days, I hear voices. I’m curled over on myself, pressed into my cramped hiding spot, clinging to the dark like it’s a life jacket. The voices move closer. |
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Sounds so good I’ve been meaning to get that book for a while.
Holy wow. That teaser from Ashes is intense. We’ve got similar things this week because mine is from Ashfall.
My Teaser
They’re both great teasers. Ashes sounds intense. Nowhere Girl sounds good too. I hope you’re enjoying both novels. If you get a chance check out my TT here: http://www.2readornot2read.com/2011/10/teaser-tuesdays-weekly-bookish-meme.html
