[C.H. Admirand] A hopeless romantic, fell in love @ first sight. Married to the man of my dreams, addicted 2 the HEA, I read & write romance 2 keep me sane.
[Manga Maniac Café] Can you tell us a little about your Secret Life of Cowboys series?
[C.H. Admirand] Three dark-haired, dark-eyed, handsome-as-sin brothers are trying to keep their family legacy, the Circle G Ranch, from going under. The Garahan brothers, Tyler, Dylan and Jesse, will do anything to save the ranch that has been in their family for over 150 years. The oldest brother, Tyler, is the first to take on a night job to help bring in money to keep the ranch going. When he answers an ad in the paper for a hard-working man with a strong back and even temperament, he thinks he’ll be stocking shelves and hauling kegs at the Lucky Star…but his new boss has other things in mind when she hires him as their new headliner, but it’s Emily, the fiery redheaded bookkeeper, who captures Tyler’s attention and his heart.
In book two, Dylan is temporarily covering his brother’s shift when he meets Ronnie DelVecchio a dark haired beauty with snapping green eyes. Sparks and tempers fly when he tosses his lasso around the birthday girl and slowly hauls her in. Dylan can’t resist the urge to kiss her senseless. It is just his luck that his next night job, doing carpentry work leads him to Ronnie’s door. She’s a temptation he cannot resist as the woman from back East tries to resist his charms and ends up in his arms.
Book three is Jesse’s story. Jesse is racing his truck into town, testing the land speed record, when he sees a car at the side of the road with steam pouring out from under the raised hood. The curvy blonde bent over the front fender with a rag in her hand has him whipping his truck around and gravel spitting as he pulls to a stop. Ready to read her the riot act for attempting to open the radiator cap on an over-heated engine, he stops short when a pint-sized cowgirl dressed in pink gets out of the car. Jesse knows that women are trouble and in pairs—dangerous—he invites them to the ranch and promises to teach Danielle’s daughter how to ride, but a chance to fulfill his dream of racing cars out at Devil’s Bowl Speedway distracts him until Danielle takes matters into her own hands and drives out to the Circle G.
[Manga Maniac Café] How did you come up with the concept and the characters for the series?
[C.H. Admirand] It all started during the RT Book Lovers Convention in Houston, an author friend suggested that we support her publisher and their models by visiting a local club…I should have asked what kind of club before I agreed because the next thing I knew, we were in a strip club, and I was totally out of my element and embarrassed to the core. When a cowboy took the stage, my creative self took over and I started to wonder why would a cowboy be working in a strip club? The answer was simple…to save his ranch. I love creating strong male characters, giving them a bit of my Irish heritage, and setting a woman in their path guaranteed to drive them crazy. My characters don’t always follow along with my synopsis, they have minds of their own, but I’ve learned to listen…it makes for a better story.
[Manga Maniac Café] What do you find so appealing about cowboys?
[C.H. Admirand] They are the heroes I grew up with from the silver screen and TV. They are men who respect the land and the animals they raise, and aren’t afraid to do whatever it takes to ensure that their ranch/herd/etc. will continue to thrive no matter the odds. Their protective streak includes the women in their lives, but they’re smart enough to choose women who are their equal in every way. Besides, there’s just something about a broad-shouldered hunk in faded denims, battered boots with a Stetson shading his eyes as he’s getting ready to meet a challenge head on…be it Mother Nature…or a woman!
[Manga Maniac Café] What do you enjoy best about writing romances?
[C.H. Admirand] I’m a firm believer in love at first sight and happily ever after. I love weaving stories around two people who are destined to be together, and then help them find their HEA. It’s the element of hope and the belief that there is someone out there for everyone…just waiting to love them…that drives my stories helping my characters to find the love of their life.
[Manga Maniac Café] What are some fall releases that you are anticipating?
[C.H. Admirand] Since I’ve been on deadline, I’m catching up. Here’s a partial list of the books on my TBP (to be purchased) list: Julie Garwood’s Ideal Man, Nora Roberts’ The Next Always, Janet Evanovich’s Explosive Eighteen, Jayne Castle’s Canyons of Night, and Linda Howard’s Prey for starters.
[C.H. Admirand] I love to read, bake (sweets are my downfall), putter in our gardens, and spend time with my family…and not necessarily in that order. LOL! Since I’ve recently become a full time author, I’m still trying to find the perfect balance juggling all aspects of my writing career.
