Ah, BEA, also known as Book Expo America, is a book lover’s wet dream. Free books for the taking, authors galore, and an opportunity to rub shoulders with both readers and professionals in the industry. It’s the Mecca of book bloggers and book lovers. I want to go so badly that BEA has eclipsed my burning desire to go to San Diego Comicon. I had fully intended to hit BEA this year. I registered and even made hotel reservations. Then my BF had a life threatening illness and it suddenly didn’t seem so important any more. After he got back on his feet, I kind of talked myself back into going. Then the date of one our horse shows changed, so BEA was once again out of reach for me. This year. But I am going next year!
Instead of sitting around this week, moping and thinking about what might have been, I decided that I will make the best of things by participating in Armchair BEA. I didn’t know about it last year, so I was happy to learn about it on Twitter. I am going to devote most of the posting this week to BEA. I have a few interviews with authors I would have liked to meet at BEA, and I’ll post up any interesting news that I hear about, too.
For new visitors, I usually review YA/MG novels, in addition to graphic novels. I also got totally hooked on Harlequin series romances again, probably because I can count on a feel good ending, as well as a story that is wrapped up in one volume. While most of what I read falls into those categories, I enjoy reading almost everything but non-fiction. I read to escape, so non-fiction just just doesn’t fit the bill for me.
If you found me through Armchair BEA, please let me know so I can hop over and say “Hi” on your blog, too!
