Teaser Tuesday – Red Moon Rising & The Pirate Captain’s Daughter

Wow, I am on a streak of very enjoyable books!  I hope it lasts a while longer.  There is something magical about a book that you like so much that you don’t want to put it down, even to eat!  Or sleep!

I just finished Red Moon Rising by Peter Moore, and I thought it was a great twist on the usual vampire/werewolf tale.  I didn’t want to do any else but read the book!

“Juliet is laughing.  She bumps her shoulder against mine.  That means something.  I’m sure of it.”

Danny is so sweet!  Shoulder bumping is so significant when you are in high school!

I love the premise for The Pirate Captain’s Daughter by Eve Bunting.  After her mother’s death, Catherine decides to join her father on the high seas.  The catch?  He’s the captain of a pirate ship, and she has to disguise herself as a boy.  Yeah, I have a fondness for books with gender-bending protagonists.  If Catherine gets caught, she will more than likely be killed!

“Weevils?  Weren’t they like maggots? Insects of some kind?”

Catherine has a lot of adjusting to do!

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
