Book Blogger Hop and Follow Friday November 12 – 14

While you’re hopping through, please take a look at my current contests!! Everyone needs more books, right??

It’s Friday! Time to discover new blogs to follow! Blog Hop is a meme held every weekend and it is hosted by Jennifer at Crazy for Books. It’s a great way to find book blogs that you might now know about.

Who I Followed and Why:

I actually discovered a couple of blogs that I really like last week, including Rabid Reads.   I like Carmel’s range of coverage, and she is reading a lot of books on my wish list.  I tried to comment on most of her posts over the last week 🙂

My favorite post from last week is her review of Halfway to the Grave, which is a title I have been thinking about reading for a while.  Now that I have been convinced, I just need to find the time to fit it into my reading schedule.  Thanks, Carmel!

 Question of the Week:

"If you find a book that looks interesting but is part of a series, do you always start with the first title?"

Yes, I always try to start with the first book in the series.  It is so hard to develop a connection with the characters if you don’t understand them or lack information on their backgrounds.  Plus, I figure that the books were written in order for a reason 😛

Parajunkee is hosting Follow Friday, which is another fun way to meet new bloggers. Check out Rachel’s blog here.

Question of the week:

What is your usual monthly book budget?

Lately, it’s been pretty non-existent.  With the holidays creeping up, I have been saving my pennies so I can spoil my family with presents.  Instead of buying books, I have been visiting the library more than normal.  Usually, it’s about $50 a month, though.

If you are visiting from the Blog Hop, please leave a comment so I can stop by your blog to say hi!

hi, Julie! I also allot more or less the same amount per month for books. I’m on a book-buying-ban this November because of Christmas. Hehe. 🙂

    Have a nice weekend!

Hi there…stopping by via the hop. I feel the same way – I have to start at the beginning and it’s only on rare occasion that I don’t. My full answer can be found here.

Old follower. I’ve been hitting library a lot more lately because of the holidays. I’ve also been catching up on that TBR pile. It’s now under 100! Hope you come by and see my answer!

I am the same way — from the beginning please! I always get excited if I pick up a book and later discover there’s an entire series that follows — especially if it’s REALLY good!

Thanks for stopping by my blog in the blog hop!

Hey! I’m an old follower just stopping by on the hop to wish you a great weekend!

Wow! Thanks so much for the mention and linking to my post! I noticed your earlier comment about waiting for my review on Halfway to the Grave and was going to send you the link but you beat me to it! And I always appreciate comments. 🙂 I have a new top commentators app on my sidebar so keep it up and you’ll make the list. Hehe 😉 I’m grabbing your button for my links page after I post this comment!

Hi I seem to be an odd ball I don’t mind starting in the middle of a series. I’m broke cause of the Holidays myself, entering a lot of giveaways and looking for freebies. 🙂

Hopped in to say high, I need to curtail my book buying for the holidays too, but it is soooo hard. Have a great weekend.

Working at a bookstore, the idea of keeping a book budget is pretty hard to configure!!!

I can dive right into the middle of a book series if the series’ story
    doesn’t run chronologically.

That is to say, if each novel in a series is a stand-alone story (like Lee
Child’s Reacher novels) then I don’t feel the need to start with book one.

On the other hand, a series of books (like Richard Hatch’s Battlestar
Galactica novels) can’t be read out of sequence since each new book builds
upon the story of the previous entry in the series.

    Happy Book Blogger Hop Friday!

Hi! Thanks for stopping by and commenting on occasion. I really appreciate it. I love having other people around who read and review manga. Have a great weekend!

Hopping through. I don’t spend a lot on books although I’ve bought more now that I’m blogging. I mostly use the library.

Hi again, old follower here 🙂
I also start from the beginning, mainly cause I feel like the author intended it that way and I owe it to them to read the character in the way he/she was developed!
