I missed Teaser Tuesday last week, so this week I’ll share a little from two books I’m reading. For a full description of Teaser Tuesday, check the bottom of the post.
King of Ithaka by Tracy Barrett is a coming of age story set in Ancient Greece. Protagonist Telemachos is the son of the missing Odysseus, and so far it is an engaging read.
‘“Do you think there’s a chance his father-what’s his name, Odysseus?-do you think he’s alive?”
I couldn’t tell if the sound that came from Mentes’ side of the room was a snore or a snort of derision.’
My other read right now is The Dead, a sequel to Charlie Higson’s The Enemy. There’s only one problem with this book. It’s kind of scary, and I can’t read it after dark. I have nightmares. It gets dark early here, too!
“You’ve got to forget about your father,” he said. “All the adults, everyone over the age of fourteen, gets sick. They die, all right? Or they turn into…one of them.”
Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
- Grab your current read
- Open to a random page
- Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
- BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
- Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
