With more difficult cases come harder times for Baek-On and Ho-Yeon. And hidden truths are revealed as they dispel the grudges of others’ wrongs. But how did they meet and come to work together? And why does Ho-Yeon carry so much pain?

Wow, this series really hits its stride with this volume.  Each of the chapters held me enthralled, and I could not put the book down.  The art has also improved, and there were so many images that made me pause and drink in JiUn Yun’s delicate yet forceful line work. The cover is stunning, from the pale pink hues on the front, to the more vividly colored flowers on the back.  The cover illustration is very representative of the interior art, and that is not always the case with graphic novels.  It is refreshing that what you see on the outside of the book matches the dreamy, floaty images on the inside.  I think the title graphic is clumsy and ugly, but mostly because it obscures the cover visuals.

Irony is the name of the game with Time and Again, and the short vignettes featured in this volume do not disappoint.  “A Forked Road,” which offers up an evocative flashback to the tragic past of a government official, was my favorite.  My favorite aspect of this story collection is how a person’s actions in the past can have such a terrible consequence in their future.  Karma takes center stage, but is often ignored.  Even with a warning to not repeat sins of the past or to change their behavior, Baek-On’s clients are victims of their own folly.  While this ensures future business, it also points out how vain and selfish people can be, as they allow their egos to lead them to needless ruin.

This volume of Time and Again successfully teased my emotions, capturing me in an enchanted web that held me spellbound until the last page.  In the span of a little under 200 pages, it has vaulted onto my list of must read titles.  Will the magic continue with the next installment?  I can hardly wait to see!
