On My Wishlist – Silver Phoenix & SOS

On My Wishlist is a fun weekly event hosted at Book Chick City and runs every Saturday. It’s a way to share your wishlist with the rest of the blogsphere. The books can be old, new or forthcoming, but my lists will be limited to already released titles. If you would like to join in and post your wishlist,  click here for more information.

This book looks awesome!  Silver Phoenix by Cindy Pon has an eye-catching cover, and promises lots of romance and action, too!

From Amazon:

No one wanted Ai Ling. And deep down she is relieved—despite the dishonor she has brought upon her family—to be unbetrothed and free, not some stranger’s subservient bride banished to the inner quarters.

But now, something is after her. Something terrifying—a force she cannot comprehend. And as pieces of the puzzle start to fit together, Ai Ling begins to understand that her journey to the Palace of Fragrant Dreams isn’t only a quest to find her beloved father but a venture with stakes larger than she could have imagined.

Bravery, intelligence, the will to fight and fight hard . . . she will need all of these things. Just as she will need the new and mysterious power growing within her. She will also need help.

It is Chen Yong who finds her partly submerged and barely breathing at the edge of a deep lake. There is something of unspeakable evil trying to drag her under. On a quest of his own, Chen Yong offers that help . . . and perhaps more.

I love Hinako Ashihara’s gut-wrenching series, Sand Chronicles, and it makes me want to read her entire backlist.  There aren’t many of her titles available in English, and I think SOS is the only one that I haven’t read, but I can keep hoping that Viz will license more of her work.  Please, Viz, license Derby Queen!

From Viz.com:

SOS
When Raku, Nono, and Yû start a secret dating agency at their school, none of them realize the trouble they’re in for! One of their clients needs rescuing from a date gone dangerously wrong, and when a teacher finds out about the matchmaking service, these junior Cupids are in very hot water!
That Sweet Organ Song
In 1920s Japan, bookstore clerk and aspiring poet Setsu encourages her customer Shotaro to follow his dream of becoming an organist and composer. But will class differences and the vagaries of fate conspire to extinguish their artistic ambitions along with their budding romance?
The Easy Life
Spoiled chauvinist Yohei takes his sweet girlfriend Mami for granted, but when she begins to tire of letting him walk all over her, will she turn to nice-guy Horie, or will she try to get Yohei to change his ways?

What’s on your wishlist?
