Clover and her furry little friends return for another round of adventures in Crescent Forest. Once again, she learns the importance of friendship, hard work, and keeping her word. Growing up is tough, but good friends make it a little easier!
Happy Happy Clover is too cute to resist. The stand alone chapters offer a nice variety as Clover maneuvers through life in the forest. She still thinks school is boring, has a short temper, and is dangerously impulsive. She also proves to be dedicated to making those around her happy and content. Clover is a bunny who is always concerned about her friends and she’s the first one there when they need help. Lucky for her, they feel the same for her, and whenever she’s in a jam, they’re not far off to give her a hand. So far, she’s needed a lot of help, too!
Once again, the stories contained in the book are easy to digest, each running about 15 pages or so. Because of the episodic nature of the series, you can jump in anywhere, and not feel lost. There is a handy character guide at the front of the book, giving readers enough information to understand everything you need to know about Clover and her group of forest friends. The character designs are so cute, and it’s almost impossible to confuse one rabbit for another. Sayuri Tatsuyama gives each a distinctive look, as well as a personality to match.
This truly is an all-ages series. The chapters are light and diverting, and the pacing keeps all of the chapters feeling fresh and fun. Like her human counterparts, Clover learns valuable lessons about life as she and her friends study and frolic through the forest. Thankfully, nothing ever feels preachy or fake as she tackles issues like getting her first job, tries to impress the worldly Rambler, and learns to appreciate her dorky dad. All of these life lessons are accompanied with adorable illustrations of animals who display a surprisingly wide range of emotions.
