This volume was too cute!  On their first date, Karin and Kenta continue their stroll around the zoo, unaware that they are being spied on by Anju.  When Kenta finally catches a glimpse of her, he grabs Karin’s hand and makes a run for it – right to the Ferris wheel.  All of the usual declarations take place in the cramped confines of their car, as Kenta confesses the depth of his feelings for her.  Her reaction was classic Karin melodrama – smashing her head as she tries to leap up in disbelief, bursting into hysterical tears as she realizes that their love can’t be.  She’s a vampire – sort of.  He’s a human.  Things will never work out.  Will they?

Now that they have declared themselves to each other, the two are determined to date like a normal high-school couple.  But little does Karin know that other dangers are lurking out there.  Tachibana seems a little too interested in bats, and Anju immediately suspects that there’s more to the girl than meets the eye.  When Henry and Anju see Tachibana bite someone in the park, they have more cause for alarm – has another vampire moved in on their territory?

The comedy abounds here, as Karin and Kenta try to act like normal teenagers in love – who knew that holding hands was that difficult?  Tachibana has the rest of Karin’s family thoroughly alarmed, and they’ll do anything to keep their little Karin safe.  Well, not Ren, unless there’s something in it for him.  Taking matters into their own hands, they undertake some drastic steps to keep Karin’s deformity a secret.  They are like a pack of lions when they think that Karin may be in trouble, which is so funny, considering their usual apathy towards her.  Henry is just not cut out to be a bad guy, and I wonder what secrets Calera is hiding?
