Minami is trying to forget his night of passion with Sawada so he can get on with his life.  He’s got a job to do, but he’s having a heck of time concentrating on his role as Oreas, the hero of a TV show that he’s working on.  When Sawada’s ex is cast for a guest appearance, Minami is sent reeling with conflicting emotions.  Watching the two of them together only makes him want Suwada more.  All of this tension can’t be good for the heart!

This is an awesome title, hands down.  I just love the tension between Minami and Sawada, and these guys hardly even had any time together in this volume.  When they are apart, every thought revolves around the other.  Talk about distracting!  Minami can barely focus on his job, forgetting lines and  causing delays for the production of the TV show.  His  lack of professionalism earns even more disdain from the cold Sawada, breaking Minami’s heart.  He’s a wreck, and considering Sawada’s callous treatment, I don’t blame him for his emotional instability.

When Katagiri offers a shoulder to cry on, Minami gets sucked into a relationship with him.  To stir up the waters even more, Takagi, Sawada’s ex, is guest starring on the show!  All of these roiling interactions keep Hero Heel on an emotional rollercoaster, as jealousies and unrequited love reverberates though the pages.  Everyone has their own agenda and their own method of trying to connect with the one they love.  The relationships are complex and convincing.

Dark obsessions and fevered passions are the name of the game here, and it’s impossible to not to get pulled into the plot.  I was a little worried that with the length of time between the release of the first volume that I wouldn’t be engaged by the story, but that fear quickly evaporated.   This one had me hooked from beginning to end, and I can hardly wait for volume 3.
