Will things finally start working out for Risa and Otani?  When the tallest girl in class falls for the shortest guy, you know that they’re going to be in for a rocky ride.  Since declaring that she’s given up on Otani and switched gears, forming a fan club for the newest teacher at the school, Otani hasn’t been acting like himself.  Is he jealous?  Will Otani ever be up-front about his feelings for Risa?

Finally!  I wasn’t totally irritated with the leads this time around, and the conflicts were more believable as Otani is left to wade through his feelings for Risa.  Maybe the fact that Jen was laughing hysterically almost the entire time she was reading this volume really got me pumped up to crack open the pages.  Then she insisted on reading over my shoulder, to see if I found some of the facial expressions as funny as she did.  She was finally exiled to the other side of the room so I could read in peace.

Otani’s prior treatment of Risa has her on her guard now, and when it seems that he might be warming up to her, she doesn’t want to get her hopes up and believe that he might actually like her.  This wariness confuses him, and has him hitting new emotional lows.  Dude, what did you expect?  Throwing a love-struck girl’s declaration back into her face was simply not a smart thing to do.  Especially if you’re going to be stupid enough to fall for her later!  Hearts aren’t yo-yos, and it’s taken you 7 volumes to start to figure that out.  No wonder he was forced to attend summer classes.  Will he ever be man enough to set aside his feelings of awkwardness around Risa and admit that they are meant for each other?
