Mining for Diamonds in the April 08 Previews

Oh, look at that!  I received my comics late, so it must be Previews week!  You can look for these little gems in June.

Shirley by Kaoru Mori – CMX – Well, it may be a year before the last volume of EMMA is released, but we’re got this single-volume collection of maid-rific short stories to hold us over.  Thank goodness.

Gorgeous Life of Strawberry Chan Vol 1 by Ai Morinaga – Anime Works – It’s about a frog.  And a kid who likes to use a straw to blow him up like a balloon.  Sounds exceedingly wrong, so I’ll have to check it out.

Aurora has a couple that look intriguing – First up is Mister Mistress Vol 1 by Rize Shinba, with a wet-dream feasting demon.  How can you resist?  Then there’s Oh My God Vol 1 by Natsuho Shino, with a confused god and the omyouji who he’s starting to annoy.

Sola Vol 1 by Chako Abeno – Broccoli – Looks interesting. Camera wielding geek must battle sword wielding  freak after meeting a supernatural being.  Hope he’s going insurance on his shooter.

Digital Manga has a bunch of titles I can hardly wait to get my hands on, including a pair by Makoto Tateno.  Red Angel Vol 1, with vampires, and the long awaited second volume of Hero Heel.  Who thought guys in cheesy costumes could look so good?

Also up is the second volume of the hilarious Love Recipe by Kirico Hagashizato.

Eternal Love by Yukariko Jissohji has such a pretty cover, this novel gets a mention, too.  Yes, I’m shallow and often judge my books by their covers.

Go! Comi has some new series to try, as well as the under-appreciated After School Nightmare Vol 8 by Setona Mizushiro.  Come on, just give this one a try!  You be hooked, too!

In Cross X Break Vol by by Duo Brand, two friends find themselves trapped in a world with warlocks and poisonous bugs.  I hate bugs!  I hope they kill a lot of them.

Song of the Hanging Sky Vol 1 by Toriko Gin is about a field medic who just wants some peace and quiet.  What he finds is a wounded boy, who turns out to be a legendary “bird-folk.”  The rest of the boy’s tribe aren’t so friendly, though, and they just want Jack dead!  Now there’s gratitude for you!

TOKYOPOP has a new series, Vassalord, by Peace Maker’s Nanae Chrono.  This one has a cyborg vampire assassin – and hey, he works for the Vatican!

Karin from Chibi-Vampire Vol 9 by Yuna Kagesaki works at a restaurant.  And she’s all backward because she spews blood instead of ingesting it.  Not as exciting as being an assassin for the Vatican, but you can’t go wrong with this cute, funny series.

Silver Diamond by Shiho Sugiura looks like it might be good. A guy with the power to grow plants simply by touching them has to save the world.  Not sure how that’s going to work, but I’ll give it a try and wonder why Sugiura’s other series, Ice Cold Demon’s Tale, hasn’t been licensed yet.

Udon’s Evyione Ocean Fantasy Vol 1 by Kim Young-Hee is about a merman.  Yay!  I loves mermen!

Viz is going to break the bank once again.  First, they have Cowa! by Akira Toriyama.  I see “half-vampire, half-werekoala” and have to read no further.  Looks fun and goofy, well except for the part about the Monster Flu killing everyone in town.  Hope Paifu can take care of that little problem.

Claymore by Norihiro Yagi just keeps getting better, and now it’s only a couple of months until volume 12 hits book stands.  The wait is killing me.

Oh, no! Look at this!  There are also new volumes of NANA, Love*Com, Red River, Skip Beat!, High School Debut, and Yakitate! Japan.  Argh!  I’m going to have to take a week off of work to read them all!

Hey, Viz and TOKYOPOP!  Why aren’t cover images of your titles in the Amazon database yet?
