Mining for Diamonds in the February 2008 Previews

There’s lots of good stuff slated to ship starting in April.  Here’s a few that I’m looking forward to.

Tea for Two by Yaya Sakuragi – BLU – Clumsy guy is forced to join the Tea Ceremony Club in an effort to learn how not to break things.  Will the graceful Hasune be able to teach Madoka to be a little more refined and gentle?  The tea ceremony angle sounds like it might be interesting.

Cigarette Kisses by Nase Yamato – Boysenberry Books – When Soji marries, Yusuke is devastated.  Meeting three years later on a cigarette break, emotions are still simmering, despite the fact that Soji is married.  Add a new rival to the chase, and Soji might have some difficult choices to make.  Love triangles are always fun, especially when it involves three gorgeous guys!

Two Flowers for the Dragon Vol 1 by Nari Kusakawa – CMX – Woah!  Shakuya, the heir to the Dragon Clan, can actually turn into a dragon!  And she has to choose between two hot fiancés, with the help of the magic tattoos on her hands.  It’s another love triangle, but this one is a little more traditional.  I love the cute cover for this book!

Gantz Vol 1 by Hiroya Oku – Dark Horse – This one might be a little too manly for my tastes.  Kei and Masaru are reanimated by an alien orb called Gantz, and now it owns them.  Making them play games of death, they are forced to hunt aliens and humans in a series of deadly missions.  While I have heard of the anime, I know zero about the actual story, so I’ll be checking this out for my monthly intake of blood and guts.

President’s Time by Tamaki Kirishima – 801 Media – Kind Mutsuki has inherited his father’s company, but he’s been unable to fulfill his father’s dying wish.  Before his death, Mutsuki’s father told him, ‘Go and become the ultimate evil boss!’  Will Mutsuki continue to be a complete failure at committing evil deeds?  This sounds like it could be a lot of fun, and 801 Media puts together a pretty book, so I have high hopes for this.

Necratoholic by Maguro Wasabi – Junè – Vampires!  Vampire hunters!  Enough said!

Pirate and the Princess by Mio Chizuru – Seven Seas – This looks like a cute fantasy novel series with Yuri, a pirate from another time, and Noelle, a princess from another place.  The covers of the first to volumes make me want to read these, because, yes, I have a habit of judging a book by its cover.

Foxy Lady Vol 1 by Ayun Tachibana – TOKYOPOP – Kogane is half demon and half human, but she dreams of being a full human.  She must unite with the heir to the Mikasa Shrine in order for her dream to come true.  Jin is training to become the next shrine priest – can he help Kogane make her wish come true?  I’m afraid it will have a little too much fan service for me, but I’ll give the first volume a go.

Fairy Cube Vol 1 by Kaori Yuki – VIZ – More Kaori Yuki weirdness.  The cover is stunning; I wonder what strange adventures  Kaori Yuki has in store for us in this series.

Record of a Fallen Vampire by Kyo Shirodaira & Yuri Kimura – VIZ – Uh-oh!  More vampires.  Will the Black Swan, an entity what inhabits a young girl every fifty years, finally be able to defeat the Vampire King?

VIZ  also has new releases of some of my favorite series – NANA Vol 10, Love * Com Vol 6, Kekkaishi Vol 13, Sand Chronicles Vol 2, Skip Beat! Vol 12.  Give one of them a try if you haven’t yet.

Yes Press has new volumes of former Ice Kunion titles.  I can finally read the next volume of Legend!  Also up is 11th Cat Vol 5, One Thousand and One Nights Vol 4 and Heavenly Executioner Chiwoo Vol 4.

Well, that’s about it.  My credit card is screaming already.
