Tiny toddler assassin Reborn is back, and tutoring his charge, Tsuna, to take over the Vongola Famiglia hasn’t gotten any easier. Bianchi, a beautiful assassin from his past, has made a reappearance, and she’s determined to knock off Tsuna so she and Reborn can ride off into the sunset together. How long can Tsuna evade her poison cooking?
Reborn is so silly I can’t help but like it. Tsuna is still a timid, under-achiever who fawns over classmate Kyoko. When Reborn blasts him with a bullet of “deatheration,” Tsuna gains temporary superpowers that handily get him out of most of the jams that his tiny tutor has set him up for. Reborn is so indifferent to Tsuna’s potentially fatal troubles, preferring instead to observe his student from a afar than lend him any aid.
Bianchi, a freelance assassin who’s madly in love with Reborn, shows up and starts taking aim at Tsuna – with her poisoned cooking. Dubbed Poison Scorpion Bianchi, her specialty is whipping up food to just die for. Thinking that Tsuna is in the way of true happiness for her and Reborn, she’s going all out to snuff out Tsuna’s life. She’s always ready to cause some chaos, and no one could ever accuse her of being boring. The mere sight of her sends Gokudera sprinting for the nearest toilet, as his stomach roils with nausea. Sampled her poisoned fare a few too many times, huh?
Tsuna’s friend Yamamoto gets sucked into the Vongola Famiglia, but he too dense to realize what’s going on. He just thinks that Reborn is an ordinary little boy with an overactive imagination. When Reborn decides to recruit him into the family to act as a bodyguard for Tsuna, Yamamoto thinks they’re just playing around. I’m not sure why Reborn wants somebody so stupid in the family, but Yamamoto is such a nice guy that you can’t help but like him.
Reborn! is a fast, funny read with some really great characters. I love Lambo - he’s so cute!
