Ok, folks, it’s time to start planning ahead all the way to March! Spring will be right around the corner, and the manga trees will be in early stages of blooming. There’s lots of good stuff in this issue, so I’ll have to really save those pennies!
Dorothea Vol 1 by Cuvie – CMX – It’s got a girl! With a sword! It looks like she could use a little sun, though. It’s a military adventure with a girl who’s like Joan of Arc. Hope this heroine gets a better ending.
Kiichi and the Magic Books Vol 1 by Taka Amano – CMX – This one has books! And a guy with pointy ears, along with magical critters jumping out of the books. Now quite sure what’s up with that, but I’m interested enough to find out.
I Hate You More Than Anyone Vol 4 by Banri Hidaka – Sugimoto! I love you! And that sums up how I feel about this series.
Nephilim Vol 1 by Anna Hanamaki – Aurora Publishing – Hmmm – Nephilim, a unique race that turns male by day and female by night and vice versa, seem like they could be interesting. Anyone who sees their night beauty is doomed to certain death. Too bad Gai had the bad luck of taking a peek.
Cosmode Vol 1 – Broccoli Books – Every time I go to an anime con, I wish that I was cos-playing. Too bad I haven’t the faintest idea of where to begin. Maybe this publication will give me clue?
Koi Cupid Vol 1 by Mia Ikumi – Broccoli Books – So cute! It’s got little cupids in training! Hopefully romantic misadventures will abound.
Dark Wraith of Shannara by Brooks, Napton & David – Del Rey – Ok, so it’s not manga, but since The Sword of Shannara was one of the first fantasy books that I ever read, this one’s on my to buy list.
Fairy Tail Vols 1 & 2 by Hiro Mashima – Del Rey – I’m not quite sure how a guy with severe motion sickness and a girl who wants to be a mage could have anything in common, but apparently there’s more here than meets the eye.
Ai no Kusabi: The Space Between Vol 2 – Destiny by Reiko Yoshihara, Illustrated by Katsumi Michihara – Junè – After the rather abrupt ending to Vol 1, it’s good to see that I only have to wait until March to find out the deal between Riki and Iason, the Blondie that haunts him. Will steamy escapades ensue? I hope so!
Selfish Mr. Mermaid by Nabako Kamo – It’s about the King of the Seas, and he’s a pretty rude guy – so what does Kanan see in him? The title alone gets this book added to my to buy list.
After School Nightmare Vol 7 by Setona Mizushiro – Go! Comi – If you aren’t reading this one, trust me, you don’t know what you are missing out on. Just scoop up all seven available volumes and immerse yourself in one of the weirdest, most engrossing series out there.
Ballad of a Shinigami Vol 1 by K-Ske Hasegawa & Nanakusa – Seven Seas – It looks like the Seven Seas line of light novels is finally going to see the light of day. This is the only one that really interests me out of the first batch. What’s not to like about soul reapers?
Daring Students’ Association Vol 1 by Cha Min-Yi – UDON – While ghost hunting and sorcery schools aren’t exactly unique concepts, UDON puts together such pretty packages that I’ll give this one a go.
Haruka: Beyond the Stream of Time Vol 1 by Tohko Mizuno – Viz – Yay! Another time traveling fantasy romance! Why doesn’t cool stuff like this ever happen to me?
Nightmare Inspector: Yumekui Kenbun Vol 1 by Shin Mashiba – Viz – Another supernatural offering, this one features a guy who can eat other people’s dreams. Hey, how many calories are in a dream, anyway?
Kaze no Hana Vol 1 by Ushio Mizta & Akiyoshi Ohta – Yen Press – An orphan moves in with her powerful relatives, and is soon caught up in a tumultuous battle with a spiritual sword. This one looks really good!
Kieli Vol 1 by Yukako Kabei & Shiori Teshirogi – Yen Press – This looks intriguing. While a girl who can see ghosts, and is friendless because of her creepy ability isn’t exactly a novel concept, I can’t remember a book that also had a reanimated corpse and possessed radio.
Samurai Confidential – Ryuto Kanzaki – Look at the pretty picture! Maybe I can learn something new while feasting on the artwork.
Love*Com the Movie DVD – Viz Media – I love the manga – I wonder how the movie compares? Where did they find a guy short enough to play Ôtani? Or a girl tall enough to play Risa? Yup, I’m looking forward to this release.
