Misty Rain is a human child being raised in the land of the Dokebi.  Found by a witch in a cabbage patch as a child, she’s disguised by the Great King of Darkness’ magic, but the illusion cast on her is destined to fail when she turns 13.  Suspected of being a human, her rival, Thornpicker, plots to reveal her true identity.  After Thornpicker destroys a gift that she received from the Great King of Darkness,  Misty Rain retaliates against her foe,  and when questioned about her actions, lies to the King.  With his trust in her shattered, the spell he cast over her breaks.  Now that Misty Rain’s true self is exposed, how can she remain in the Dokebi world?

Land of Silver Rain is a strange mix of humor and melodrama.  Misty Rain, never quite fitting in with her surroundings, is forever getting into mischief.  The jealous Thornpicker is constantly playing tricks on her, and plotting her downfall.  Prince Sirius of the Unicorn Kingdom, entering the forbidden room, unwittingly puts Misty Rain’s life in turmoil, and his own, when he touches the threads of her fate. 

Despite it’s old school leanings, I really enjoyed the art.  The characters all have huge doe eyes and so much wavy hair that I am absolutely jealous! They also accessorize nicely, which is always important in girls’ manga!  The backgrounds have intricate details without cluttering up the panels.  The color pages of Sirius meeting the three fates were extremely pretty, and I hope that future volumes will contain more color art.  The cover really caught my eye, and is the main reason I purchased the book.

This wasn’t a bad introductory volume.  One complaint I have with Net Comics is the amount of typographical errors in their books.  I always find them jarring, and it’s unfortunate that this release is marred with so many.
