The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves: Welcome to Summer!

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba of The Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  This is a weekly meme where we can share news of the week and highlight new books received.

Last weekend was the Morgan Gold Cup.  I was pretty pleased with Pixie’s performance, except for her reluctance, once again, to flat walk.  We are thinking of changing her division from Classic Pleasure to English Pleasure, so manners (hers, not mine Smile) won’t be so important.  I think our next show, which is the beginning of August, will be the last for this year.  I have big, big, big plans to show both Elle (in driving) and Pixie under saddle next year, so I need to start saving my pennies.

I threw my back out on Monday, about ten minutes after getting to work, and spent most of the week taking it easy.  I have no idea what I did, but man oh man, it hurt!  Paired with the soft tissue tear I’ve been fighting in my leg (for the past six months) and I had an uncomfortable week.  Thank goodness I had my Kindle to distract me from the pain.

The weather has been spectacular, despite the rain.  The humidity has been relatively low, and temperatures haven’t been too high.  How have you been enjoying the weather?

I really enjoyed The Distance Between Us. I’m reviewing On the Fence this week. They’re not technically in a series, but there’s a bit of character cross over which is kind of cool. Just a small detail. Looks like you got plenty of other goodies this week too! Happy reading! And sorry about your back and leg! Hope you feel better soon!

A few years ago I sprained my back sneezing unexpectedly while in the loo. My pilates teacher told me I should always tighten my core/pelvic floor when I sneeze. If I had known I was going to sneeze and had not been in the loo at the time that would have been great advice.
But, the point is, it’s often not something like lifting something or reaching, or anything to do with your back at all. It is more often that your core was not protecting your back when something inconsequential, like a sneeze happens.
That doesn’t help you now though does it? You can find my post at my link http://fangswandsandfairydust.com or at Kimba’s link up.

@Steph – I was twisting when it popped, it caught me by surprise, too. It’s still giving me some trouble, but it is feeling a lot better!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

So sorry to hear about your back! I threw mine out once years ago but I still vividly remember how awful it was. Looks like you’ve got some good books to keep you company though! Have a great (and more mobile) week!

Hope your back feels better! We’ve had good weather too, a nice start to summer.

Falling Sky looks good, I like the idea of airships and disease on the ground- sounds fun and original.
