The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves-Allergy Edition

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba of The Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  This is a weekly meme where we can share news of the week and highlight new books received.

Oh, gosh!  So Bumble’s little issue never cleared up completely, and after another test, both he and Poppy are parasite free.  Ugh!  So now the vet thinks he might have an allergy to grain or chicken.  WHAT?!  Friday I spent an hour at PetSmart trying to pick the perfect grain-free, chicken free food I could find.  There are so many new brands on the market!  I wanted to go with one that has been around for a while, because the thought of having to change his food if the manufacturer suddenly goes out of business gave me pause.  I also wanted to find one that wasn’t prohibitively expensive, since both dogs have to eat it, and they eat like little piranha.  I settled on Nature’s Recipe Salmon, Pumpkin, and Sweet Potato, so now I have to wait and see if that clears up the problem.  On the plus side, they love the food and it’s not outrageously expensive.  It smells kind of weird, but maybe that’s what they like about it!

best of luck with the pups!!! I switched my kiddo to Blue Buffalo Basics Turkey and Potato Recipe. It’s what my mom feeds her dogs and since Sammie is attending her unofficial doggie daycare (I’m sooo lucky!!!) he had to switch. It’s a bit more expensive than I’d like, but it did make a huge difference, with his coat, losing weight and allergies. But I have a small/medium dog who eats like a picky toddler so its not so bad 🙂

I wish I had snagged Mortal Danger. I’ve been seeing it around a lot. The Shadow Master has a pretty good cover. And for some reason The Duke’s Obsession is drawing me in. I’m not normally a huge fan of those kinds of books. I might have to make an exception. Hope Bumble gets to feeling better soon! Have a great week!

@Erin – I was looking at Blue Buffalo, but everyone keeps telling me that pumpkin will help him out, so I went with that. There’s already been a positive different with Poppy – Bumble I’m not sure about yet, but hopefully, this will be a good change for him. Neither of mine is picky – they inhale everything placed in front of them 🙂

@Sandy – I have been enjoying a few Scandalous releases the past week, so I’m curious to see if the trend continues. Thanks for stopping by!

Trying to find just the right food for your pets sucks! We struggled with it for a year as one of our cats was prone to UTIs. We stick with a vet-recommended prescribed food and have a timed feeding dish as stress can cause UTIs. We’ve been UTI-free for awhile now. Good luck. Glad they like the new food!

    Have a great week!

@Terri – Yeah, I thought that when I put them on the prescribed food everything would settle down, but nope! They both seem happy with the Nature’s Recipe, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I’m glad you got your kitty all figured out – there is nothing more frustrating than a pet that isn’t feeling well.
