The Sunday Post and Stacking the Shelves–April 6th Edition

The Sunday Post is hosted by Kimba of The Caffeinated Book Reviewer.  This is a weekly meme where we can share news of the week and highlight new books received.

Poppy is a hit!  The residents at the nursing home loved seeing her, but she was a little hesitant to let everyone pet her.  Dean’s mom liked meeting her, and Poppy even hopped up on her bed to snuggle.  She’s going again today, and hopefully she’ll be a little more outgoing, though she is a little shy when Bumble isn’t with her.

We had a lovely day yesterday; woke up to a dusting of snow, but it all melted by the afternoon.  We ran a few errands, then headed to Red Lobster for their Lobster Fest.  I had a $10 off coupon, so we both enjoyed a nice meal of lobster tails.  My only regret?  Ordering dessert.  Their desserts are less than memorable, so if you are planning a trip to RL soon, skip the dessert!  I would have enjoyed a Blizzard at Dairy Queen better.

What are your favorite restaurants to order dessert?  Least favorite?  One of my favorites is Cheesecake Factory, but it’s hard to decide on just one variety of cheesecake!  I’m not usually a cheesecake fan, but I enjoy theirs!

I had no idea that nursing homes would let you take animals in. That’s pretty cool. Looks like you have a huge variety of genres this week. I like to mix things up myself. I too enjoy a DQ Blizzard but hardly ever get one. I’ve only had the Cheesecake Factory once, but it was definitely a memorable experience. Husband and I don’t normally get dessert when we go out to eat though. 🙁 Hope you have a great week!

Glad to hear that Poppy had a great debut 😛 I was thinking of doing the RL promotion too. Thanks for the heads up on the desert 🙂

@Erinf1 – Yes, avoid the dessert. Even Dean, who has a sweet tooth bigger than Texas, thought his was terrible. The lobster entrees, however, were very good!

@Sandy – The admin at the nursing home just needed a copy of her vaccination record, which they put on file so she can visit anytime. We don’t usually get dessert, either, unless we are on vacation or it’s a special occasion, which made this experience even more disappointing. Entrees were great, though!

I’ve heard Cheesecake Factory is good but we’ve never been there. We like the Volcano dessert at Rainforest cafe. Their food is not that memorable, but that dessert is a trip. They bring it out with a sparkler on it and it’s just brownie goodness. We basically go there for that if we’re in the area…

@Greg – I’ve had that! It is a fun way to end a meal (though Rainforest Cafe is soooooo noisy and dimly lit that I don’t like to go anymore).

Cheesecake Factory? Wow, sound great, and I guess I must be glad they don’t have it here in the UK because I would go there all the time. Otherwise my fav is Italian ice-cream.
Have a great week and Happy Reading.

@Peggy – They opened a Cheesecake Factory literally 5 minutes from my work. The only problem – after over months, there is STILL at least a 2 hour wait, and they do not take reservations, so I still haven’t eaten at the one by my house! I have eaten at their out of state locations. Italian ice cream probably has a fraction of the calories, so stick with that!
