Yesterday I received a box of goodies from Amazon. To my horror, the books were just thrown in the box, an pillow was tossed on top, and then they were sent on their way, inadequately protected from the hazards of shipping. My copy of The Wallflower #8 is crinkled! My copy of Cantarella #4 is battered!
I was so upset by the condition of my purchases that I fired of a blistering email of complaint to Amazon’s customer service. When I crawled out of bed at 4:30 this morning, the reply had arrived in my mailbox. They offered a 20% discount on the entire order. I accepted, and have forgiven them for the time being. I don’t know why some shipments come tossed carelessly in the box, and others arrived shrink wrapped to a piece cardboard. I stopped purchasing for BN.com because they just throw all the orders in boxes, heedless of shipping damage. Amazon at least seemed to care that my purchases arrived unbent and with tight corners.
The following books were included in the shipment:
Lost Boys by Kaname Itsuki
Airgear #1 (shrink wrapped – hope I’m old enough to flip through this book!)
Empty Empire #1 by Naoe Kita
The Wallflower #8
Hopefully I can blast through most of these this weekend. My backlog of graphic novels is getting rather scary, and I’m glad I keep the stacks shut away in the closet where Dean can’t see them….
