[Manga Maniac Cafe] Good morning, Tamara! What’s one thing you won’t leave home without?
[Tamara Hughes] My purse. While it isn’t huge, it isn’t small either. The need to take it must be a carryover from when my kids were small. I feel the need to always be prepared for God knows what to happen. So I’ve got band-aids and candies and Advil, tissues, chap stick – I think I even have a granola bar in there right now.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] Name three things on your desk right now.
[Tamara Hughes] Well, I don’t technically have a desk. I write at my kitchen table. I really like all the windows around me (maybe the food too). Let’s see. I have coffee (need me my coffee), lots of paper piles for all the things I hope to get done, but probably won’t, and flowers (no, I don’t usually have flowers, but with Valentine’s day and all…)
[Manga Maniac Cafe] If you could trade places with anyone for just one day, who would you be?
[Tamara Hughes] I’d want to be a movie star (let’s say someone young, who doesn’t have the responsibilities of family yet…yeah, maybe someone British – I’d love to go to England…how about Emma Watson?). I think it would be awesome to see what it’s like to be famous just for a day. I’m sure there are good and bad things about it, which is why one day would be perfect.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What are some books that you enjoyed recently?
[Tamara Hughes] I’ve been reading a lot of YA paranormal romance with my kids lately. The Denizen series by Jus Accardo (Touch, Toxic, and Tremble). Very interesting. It starts out where anyone the hero touches dies…except the heroine. I’ve also reread some Pamela Palmer books. She writes adult paranormal romance, with the heroes all shape-shifters. She’s a great author.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What do you like to do when you aren’t writing?
[Tamara Hughes] I’m a big romantic movie buff. I find them on Netflix, along with romantic TV series. I also love to spend time with the family. My kids are getting older now, so I’m trying to spend as much time with them as I can before they fly the coop. I enjoy reading, cooking, doing logic puzzles, sampling wines from time to time (sampling dark chocolate too), and occasional dates with my husband.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] How can readers connect with you?
[Tamara Hughes] I have a website: www.tamarahughes.com
I’m also on Facebook, Twitter, and Goodreads
I try to be active on social media at least on the weekdays, usually in the early evening.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] Thank you!
About the Book
Release Date: February 10, 2014
New York City, 1883
A Prince Charming meets his match…
Self-made shipping magnate Christopher Black first spies Rebecca Bailey at a masquerade ball and is captivated by her refreshing naiveté and sparkling beauty. She’s a stark contrast to the hollow behavior of the ton and the guile of his former fiancée, but the closer he gets to her secrets, the further she pushes him away.
A Cinderella with a secret…
Rebecca is drawn to the charismatic Christopher from the first, but she cannot risk him discovering that she is really a housemaid impersonating an heiress. Her father’s life depends on it.
A Happily Ever After that could never be…
When Christopher’s investigation of the murder of his best friend leads him straight to Rebecca, he fears his ingénue may be a femme fatale in disguise. Now he must decide if he can trust the woman he’s come to love, or if her secrets will be his downfall.
A small town girl with a big imagination, Tamara Hughes had no idea what to do with her life. After graduating from college, she moved to a big city, started a family and a job, and still struggled to find that creative outlet she craved. An avid reader of romance, she gave writing a try and became hooked on the power of exploring characters, envisioning adventures, and creating worlds. She enjoys stories with interesting twists and heroines who have the grit to surmount any obstacle, all without losing the ability to laugh. To learn more, stop by her website: www.tamarahughes.com.
