[Manga Maniac Cafe] Describe yourself in 140 characters or less.
[Tara Pammi] Author, work-in-progress wife, mom, and coffee fueled insomniac
[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you tell us a little about A Hint of Scandal?
[Tara Pammi] A Hint of Scandal is a story of opposites falling in love. Alexander King is perfection personified, a control freak who’s long ago cut off any emotion from his life whereas Olivia as Alexander calls her is an Emotion Junkie thriving on everything she feels- whether love or hurt or attraction.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] How did you come up with the concept and the characters for the story?
[Tara Pammi] This is going to sound hooey…but the characters always come first to me. In this case, it was Olivia first. Olivia had so much love to give but the problem was that she kept giving it to the wrong men. Once I had in Olivia in mind, I thought of what kind of a man would find her irresistible but would want nothing of what she had to give and Alexander came into picture.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three words best describe Olivia?
[Tara Pammi] Impulsive, loving, loyal.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] If Alexander had a theme song, what would it be?
[Tara Pammi] Poison and Wine by Civil Wars.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] Name one thing Olivia is never without.
[Tara Pammi] Her bright red lipstick- her armor against a world that has never been kind to her
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three things will you never find in Alexander’s bedroom?
[Tara Pammi] Anything that belonged to his ex-girlfriends, or scented calendars and in the beginning of the story- anything that belonged to Olivia either…;-)
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What is Olivia’s greatest regret?
[Tara Pammi] That in search of someone who loved her, in search of validation, she fell in love with the wrong man at the age of nineteen.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What are your greatest creative influences?
[Tara Pammi] My father who had been a writer. I remember him sitting at his table, with a pen and paper in hand, writing, and in the middle of it sometimes realizing I was there, and smiling.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three things do you need in order to write?
[Tara Pammi] Coffee, quiet and my laptop ?
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What was your biggest distraction while working on A Hint of Scandal?
[Tara Pammi] LOL…this one’s the easiest. It is always the Internet. Writing is such a solitary occupation that you want to forever see who’s on twitter/FB etc. so that you feel like you are interacting with people other than those in our heads.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What is the last book that you read that knocked your socks off?
[Tara Pammi] Nalini Singh’s Heart of Obsidian.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] If you had to pick one book that turned you on to reading, which would it be?
[Tara Pammi] I grew up surrounded by books and it’s really hard to pick one.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] What do you like to do when you aren’t writing?
[Tara Pammi] Read, and playing board games with my girls.
[Manga Maniac Cafe] How can readers connect with you?
[Tara Pammi] I would love to hear from readers.
