From Amazon:

From the award winning author of romance and romantic suspense, HelenKay Dimon comes a sizzling new story from Cosmo Red-Hot Reads from Harlequin.

Jordan McAdam rates men on her anonymous Need To Know website. Everything from the quickness with which they pick up a dinner check, to their playbook for getting a woman naked. Enter Forest Redder. He’s convinced Jordan burned his friend so he flirts with her, intending to learn the truth. But Jordan plans to date Forest to gather the dirt on him! Oh, how the best laid plans can be ruined by sex…and love.

Everything You Need To Know is the second title I’ve read under the Cosmo Red-Hot Reads imprint.  The first one, Fearless, wasn’t my cup of tea, and I couldn’t relate to heroine.  This one, though, was a complete success.  I loved Jordan, I loved her attitude, and I admired her courage.  She didn’t back down from a challenge, and after losing her job at a law firm shortly after purchasing a condo, she was determined to make her website, Need To Know, a financial powerhouse.  Since I’m a blogger, I immediately felt that I understood Jordan, and was even envious that her website was actually making some money!  Maybe one day mine will, too.

Jordan’s website is subscription based, and it rates men in the DC area.  Wondering if it’s worth chasing up that hottie from the PR department?  Just login to Need To Know, check the database, and see if he’s a complete scumbag.  I loved the concept of this, and it gave Jordan a believable excuse to be bouncing around from one temp job to another.  That was the perfect way to get some hands on research and stay anonymous at the same time.  Things are going smoothly and according to plan, right up until she meets Forest Redder.  He is everything in a man that she’s been avoiding after her spectacularly ugly breakup with her previous boyfriend.

The sparks flew from the moment that they met, and I was immediately engrossed in Jordan’s efforts to steer clear of the handsome businessman, while he was even more determined to get to know her  better.  The chemistry blazed between them, and as Jordan was swept off her feet, she was desperate to keep her involvement with the website a secret.  It’s harder than she expected, especially when one  of Forest’s former business partners is convinced that Forest is feeding derogatory info to the website, and threatens to sue everyone involved.  Yikes!  Poor Jordan’s guilty conscience took a beating after that!

Both Jordan and Forest have ghosts from their childhoods to taint their expectations of relationships, and reading along as they worked through their hang-ups made this a page turner.  It is novella length, so it won’t take you long to power through the book; it’s the perfect read to load on your smartphone to read on the go, and it will make those waits in  the checkout line fly by.

[Sarah Castille] I got lost on my way through a familiar city, as you do, and wound up asking for directions at an MMA gym. One thing led to another and I wound up spending an hour meeting the fighters, touring the gym and learning about MMA. One fighter really stood out as being an alpha among alphas, a true leader. He became my Torment. As I was leaving, I wondered how an ordinary girl would fare in the MMA world, someone slightly naive and self-conscious. Suddenly I had my heroine. And my story.

Interview with Karen Whiddon, Author of The Lost Wolf’s Destiny

Please welcome special guest Karen Whiddon to the virtual offices this morning! Karen is here to chat about her latest Harlequin Nocturne release The Lost Wolf’s Destiny.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Describe yourself in 140 characters or less.

[Karen Whiddon] Pale, animal-lover, nature-lover, writer, wife, mother, friend, Boxer-rescue volunteer, imaginative, clumsy, shy, awkward, deep.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you tell us a little about The Lost Wolf’s Destiny?

[Karen Whiddon] This book is part of my "Pack" series. One of the characters from Touch of the Wolf, Samantha Warren, makes a brief appearance (along with her husband)

Shapeshifter Blythe Daphne is desperate to save her five year old daughter’s life. So desperate that, when everything else has failed, she turns to a prominent Faith Healer(the hero’s father– Jacob Gideon) and his church, Sanctuary. Can Lucas Kenyon save the mother and daughter from a man he knows is evil personified?

When Lucas Kenyon sees the news report on television about his estranged father Jacob Gideon welcoming a Shapeshifter and her child into his fold with promises to heal them, he knows they are actually in grave danger. Because Jacob believes Shapeshifters are demons straight from hell, and has vowed he will "cure" them, no matter what the cost. After years of abuse, Lucas witnessed his twin sister’s death at the hands of the man he called father. He escaped, changed his name, and gradually built a life for himself. But the guilt that he wasn’t able to save his sister never left him. So when he realizes Jacob has found more victims, he knows he must save them, before they are tortured and killed.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] How did you come up with the concept and the characters for the story?

[Karen Whiddon] Honestly, I can’t answer that.  I don’t really know where my ideas come from.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three words best describe Blythe?

[Karen Whiddon] Brave, Determined, Beautiful

[Manga Maniac Cafe] If Lucas had a theme song, what would it be?

[Karen Whiddon]  Broken, by Seether.  My working title for this book was The Broken Wolf, though I didn’t get to keep it.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Name one thing Blythe is never without.

[Karen Whiddon] Her daughter – she is a single mom and her daughter Hailey is critically ill.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three things will you never find in Lucas’s bathroom?

[Karen Whiddon] Hair products, teeth whitener, after-shave.  He doesn’t need anything to help him look HOT!

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What is Blythe’s greatest regret?

[Karen Whiddon] Trusting the wrong person.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What are your greatest creative influences?

[Karen Whiddon] Younger days – Ray Bradbury.  I devoured everything he wrote.  Nowadays, there are so many authors I love.  Kristin Hannah and Barbara Samuel (Barbara O’Neal) come to mind.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three things do you need in order to write?

[Karen Whiddon] Something to write with, whether it’s a computer, Alphasmart, or pen and paper.  Music – I usually create a playlist on ITunes for each book.  And a beverage, whether it’s coffee or ginger ale, or tea.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What was your biggest distraction while working on The Lost Destiny?

[Karen Whiddon] My biggest distraction as a writer on all of my books is the internet.  Email, Facebook, etc.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What is the last book that you read that knocked your socks off?

[Karen Whiddon] Kristin Hannah’s Fly Away.  I devoured it!

[Manga Maniac Cafe] If you had to pick one book that turned you on to reading, which would it be?

[Karen Whiddon] That’s a hard question.  I’ve always read – Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys as a kid, Ray Bradbury, and the old Harlequin’s.  The first big romance author who made me want to write would be Judith McNaught.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What do you like to do when you aren’t writing?

[Karen Whiddon] Sleep <G>, eat, play with my dogs, volunteer for Legacy Boxer Rescue, hang out with my husband and or daughter, and travel.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] How can readers connect with you?

[Karen Whiddon] I have a webpage (, a blog ( a PO Box (PO Box 820807, Fort Worth, TX  76182) and my email is

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Thank you!

About the book:

A desperate mother. A scarred man. A powerful bond… The moment he saw Blythe Daphne on the television news, Lucas Kenyon knew three things: she was a shapeshifter, like him. She was the most desirable creature he had ever seen. And she was in terrible danger.

Now, the wolf in Lucas is driving him to save Blythe and her young daughter from a man he knows is evil personified. A man who believes all shapeshifters are demons straight from hell. But Lucas knows he must never reveal the secret that threatens to tear him apart—not even to the one woman who could heal him.
