The year is 1 AWC—After the Wall Crash. The Fae are free and hunting us. It’s a war zone out there, and no two days are alike. I’m Dani O’Malley, the chaos-filled streets of Dublin are my home, and there’s no place I’d rather be.

Dani “Mega” O’Malley plays by her own set of rules—and in a world overrun by Dark Fae, her biggest rule is: Do what it takes to survive. Possessing rare talents and the all-powerful Sword of Light, Dani is more than equipped for the task. In fact, she’s one of the rare humans who can defend themselves against the Unseelie. But now, amid the pandemonium, her greatest gifts have turned into serious liabilities.

Dani’s ex–best friend, MacKayla Lane, wants her dead, the terrifying Unseelie princes have put a price on her head, and Inspector Jayne, the head of the police force, is after her sword and will stop at nothing to get it. What’s more, people are being mysteriously frozen to death all over the city, encased on the spot in sub-zero, icy tableaux.

When Dublin’s most seductive nightclub gets blanketed in hoarfrost, Dani finds herself at the mercy of Ryodan, the club’s ruthless, immortal owner. He needs her quick wit and exceptional skill to figure out what’s freezing Fae and humans dead in their tracks—and Ryodan will do anything to ensure her compliance.

Dodging bullets, fangs, and fists, Dani must strike treacherous bargains and make desperate alliances to save her beloved Dublin—before everything and everyone in it gets iced.

Cheap Reads for Your Kindle! Rock Stars VS Movie Stars!

Today’s sale books feature rock stars and movie stars.  It’s so hard to decide which is sexier, so let’s OD on celebrities!

Starkissed by Brynna Gabrielson – $2.99 YA

Kissing movie star Grant West may be every teenage girl’s dream, but when it happens to Sydney Kane, it’s nothing but a nightmare. Sure he’s cute, but having her face plastered all over celebrity gossip blogs is not something she’s interested in. Now cheerleaders are trying to befriend her, reporters won’t stop calling, and her mother keeps chasing her with a curling iron so she won’t be caught by the paparazzi with flat hair ever again.

Forgetting Grant is all Sydney wants and Colin, the guy she’s had a crush on since seventh grade, seems like a pretty good way to do it. Then Grant shows up at Sydney’s door begging for a second chance and the more she gets to know him, the more she isn’t sure she wants him to go away. But with Grant in the picture, Colin is backing off and she definitely doesn’t want that. Everything is a mess and Sydney doesn’t know what to do, who to choose, or how to make those pesky cheerleaders leave her alone. She only knows one thing for sure, being STARKISSED isn’t a dream come true at all.

The Accidental Movie Star by Emily Evans – $2.99 – YA

How did Ashley spend her summer vacation? Imagine the hottest guy in Hollywood. Do you see the girl next to him, the one handing him a cup of coffee? Yeah. That’s her.

Interning on a major motion picture is not all bad. She gets to watch some of the scenes and even offer her opinion. “That kiss looked lame. Laughably weak. There’s no chance at an MTV award with that kiss.”

LOL. Until the director says, “Hey, Intern. Yeah, you. Ashley. You’re right. So, teach Caspian how to kiss. Oh, and get in front of the camera. We’re going to need you in this next shot."

OMG.

Rok star’s Girl by J. F. Kristin – .99 – New Adult

Emily Watts just wants a weekend break from the workaholic hours she’s taken on to keep her business — a popular fashion-snark web site — up and running. What she gets is overnight celebrity and a career-killing media scandal.

While taking time out to attend a concert in support of friend Jesse Cinder, a struggling musician, Emily meets Cory Sampson, the lead singer of a chart-topping rock band. When she agrees to a date with Cory, making entertainment headlines is the last thing she expects. Even so, it’s a minor surprise by comparison to her discovery that in the music world, media notoriety trumps all. Tabloid allegations erupt when Cory and fame-hungry Jesse use Emily for personal gain, and her tarnished image spells disaster — personally and professionally. To save the web site and writing career she’s made her life and dream, Emily must go from being a pawn in the Hollywood headline game to becoming the media mastermind.

(Mature Young Adult / New Adult)

Moving Neutral by Katy Atlas – $3.99

Casey Snow is grounded for life… or at least until she leaves for college.

After driving her car into the side of her parents’ garage, Casey is stuck filing papers in her mom’s office during the day, and confined to her house on the weekends. Worst of all, she’s not allowed to see her favorite band, Moving Neutral–whose lead guitarist, Blake Parker, just might be the love of Casey’s life.

But with her best friend’s help, Casey comes up with a plan to sneak out of her house for the concert. And as she’s standing in line at a coffee shop near the show, everything changes.

Because behind her is Blake Parker, ready to sweep her away for the best summer of her life.

Blindsided by Sayer Adams – Adult Contemporary – .99 – Prime Members can read it for FREE

Can two people who can’t overcome their own pasts help each other move on and find happiness? When a disillusioned rock star is confronted by an anxiety ridden travel writer, he has a week to prove he’s not one of the bad boys she’s sworn off. But first he has to convince himself and find out why she’s running herself into the ground by running around the world.

Chelsea Spencer is a travel writer who has spent the last six years traveling at a punishing pace that leaves little time for food or sleep. When her body shuts down in the Australian Outback, her doctors give her strict orders to stay put for two months. Chelsea complies by staying in Seattle with her brother, but for Chelsea, stopping is more hazardous than running. Old anxiety and panic fueled by feelings of helplessness flood Chelsea when her mind isn’t otherwise occupied and the months seem like torture. All she wants is to get back on the road without any further complications – like a broken heart.

Interview with Rachel Astor, Author of Sugar Rush

Please welcome Rachel Astor to the virtual offices today! She is the author of Sugar Rush, a launch release for Entangled Publishing’s brand new Bliss line.  Check out what she has to say about her new book.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Describe yourself in 140 characters or less.

[Rachel Astor] I’m a wife and stepmom first and a writer second, though I love all of it. I write light, fun books that I hope put smiles on reader’s faces

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Can you tell us a little about Sugar Rush?

[Rachel Astor] Dulcie Carter has her dream job. She’s been running her family’s sweet shop, Candy Land Confections, on her own since her mom passed away. It’s a great job, but with rent, supplies, and everything else, she needs to keep it hopping with sugar-crazed customers. Add school and trying to have a life and she’s drowning in caramel nougat.

Then she meets Nick… a breath of fresh air. Dulcie’s got a high for him way stronger than any sugar rush. Until, that is, she discovers who he really is: the son of her biggest competition.

When an invitation arrives for the annual Chocolatier’s Taste of the Year contest arrives, Dulcie can’t toss it fast enough, remembering last year’s horrifying “incident” when she tried to come up with a flavor all on her own for the first time and came in last place. But then she runs into Nick again, he goads her so far, she vows she’ll beat his sell-out factory store any day.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] How did you come up with the concept and the characters for the story?

[Rachel Astor] The concept actually came first, though Dulcie and Nick were not far behind. I love to think about my readers and what might make them happy, so my plots tend to be closely related to jobs or events that I see as being tons of fun—such as running a candy store! And what better way to fall in love than within that theme of chocolate and candy? It can’t help but be a sweet romance! ;) Dulcie was the first character I came up with and it was tons of fun getting into the mind of a chocolate genius- and as a side note, the name Dulcie means ‘sweet.’

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three words best describe Dulcie?

[Rachel Astor] Hard-worker, sweet (of course!), and maybe a little nervous most of the time.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] An evil witch just turned Nick into candy.  Describe his new form.

[Rachel Astor] Nick would be the Dark Chocolate of Desire, a decadent double chocolate confection that you know you shouldn’t have, but just can’t quite resist.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] If Dulcie had a theme song, what would it be?

[Rachel Astor] Actually, Dulcie sort of does have a theme song. She wakes up to I Want Candy playing on her iPod every morning.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What is Nick’s most prized possession?

[Rachel Astor] His $800 automated coffee machine

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What are your greatest creative influences?

[Rachel Astor] Sophie Kinsella, Meg Cabot, and a ton of other writers.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What three things do you need in order to write?

[Rachel Astor] Silence, coffee, and a notebook with an Ultra Fine Point Sharpie beside me.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What is the last book that you read that knocked your socks off?

[Rachel Astor] The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern absolutely blew me away!

[Manga Maniac Cafe] If you had to pick one book that turned you on to reading, which would it be?

[Rachel Astor] Hmmm. That’s tough, I’ve loved to read since I was a little kid. One book that really stands out from when I was a bit older was Flowers in the Attic by VC Andrews.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] What do you like to do when you aren’t writing?

[Rachel Astor] I walk by the river near my house every day that it’s nice, run around with the kids’ sports and activities, and am also a bit of a TV/movie–aholic. Some of my favorite shows are Fringe, So You Think You Can Dance, and probably not surprisingly, Cupcake Wars.

[Manga Maniac Cafe] How can readers connect with you?

[Rachel Astor] I’m at RachelAstor.net as well as @rachelastor on Twitter and http://www.facebook.com/astor.rachel on Facebook. You can check me out on Goodreads as well!

[Manga Maniac Cafe] Thank you!

Rock Out on These Deals for Your Kindle!

Today I’m spotlighting romances with rock stars, because rock stars, well, ROCK!  Who doesn’t want to get caught up in a relationship with a super sexy rock star?

As You Wish by Elyssa Patrick – This rock star romance released September 3.  Check out the Goodreads page for reviews.

Love doesn’t always follow the sheet music . . .

This Christmas, Portia Jackson needs a miracle to save her family’s generations-old florist shop. What she gets instead is a car that breaks down during a blizzard. Help arrives unexpectedly when the infamous Aubry Riley pulls over. She only expects him to drive her to the gas station . . . she never expects that kiss. But Portia lives in the real world–she knows this is only a holiday fling for Aubry. Except it doesn’t feel so temporary, and the last thing she wants is a broken heart.

Sometimes you have to sing some different notes . . .

Rock star Aubry Riley has no secrets. Thanks to the media, everyone knows about his troubled past. Six years have gone by since his world crashed, and now he’s ready for a comeback. But first he needs to reconcile with his family–starting with his six-year-old daughter. A month-long vacation at a Vermont lake house affords him the perfect opportunity to take a step in the right direction. He doesn’t need any other emotional entanglements, especially not with the bright-eyed florist he can’t stop thinking about. But no matter how hard he tries to resist her, he can’t. Now all he has to do is to convince Portia that there is nothing temporary when it comes to love.

Face the Music  by Andrea K Robbins -$2.99 – Another sexy singer! Here’s the link to some reviews on Goodreads.

After losing her mother in a tragic accident, Allison Banks takes on the sole responsibility of caring for her little sister, her young niece, and her disabled grandmother. When her long-term boyfriend walks out, offering little in the way of explanation, Allison is left totally confused and utterly heartbroken. To cope, the 24-year-old closes herself off to any serious relationships and dives into her work as a graduate student.

Needing the extra income, Allison takes a job for the hot, new, reality TV show, Superstardom. Captivated by the competition’s front-runner, the mysterious and sexy singer, Chris Knots, Allison dismisses her attraction as nothing more than a silly, school-girl crush. But, when the hunky performer reveals an interest of his own, Allison must work through her reservations and decide if there’s room in her life for something more.

The Might Storm by Samantha Towle – $2.99 – I have been seeing this rock star romance everywhere lately.  Lots of positive reviews on Amazon.

It’s been twelve years since Tru Bennett last saw Jake Wethers, her former best friend and boy she once loved.

Jake Wethers, sexy, tattooed and deliciously bad lead singer, and brains behind The Mighty Storm, one of biggest bands in the world, left Tru with a broken heart when he moved from England to America with his family when they were both fourteen.

Sent to interview Jake for her music column by the magazine she works for, they are both unprepared for the sparks that fly the instant they reconnect. Only, there’s a complication to their instant feelings for one another – Will, Tru’s boyfriend of two years.

Then Jake makes Tru a job offer she can’t refuse – travelling the world with him and his band. But taking the job means leaving Will behind, and being on the road with the band means spending an inordinate amount of time with Jake.

Is Tru strong enough to resist the delectable bad boy who once held her heart so completely, or will she willingly risk it all for one night with the worlds most notorious womanizer?

Falling Stars by Sadie Grubor – $2.99- A tortured rock star; who can resist?

‘A falling, or shooting, star, is the common name for the visible path of a meteoroid if it survives impact with the Earth’s surface.’

Christopher Mason, the infamous lead singer of The Forgotten, has a reputation for being ‘difficult’. Harboring dark memories and the burden of a painful secret, he struggles with a past he desperately wants to destroy. Amidst this star’s battle with the pull of his demons, he risks losing everything he’s built as a musician.

Enter Mia Ryder, the head strong yet laid back, lead singer of Hushed Mentality. As the opening act for The Forgotten, Mia and her all girl rock band are sure to gain the publicity needed to sky rocket to the next level in their dream career.

Mia’s laidback personality defies Chris’s plotting for their demise and removal of the ‘girlie band’ from ‘his’ tour. But even Chris’s best laid plans aren’t prepared Mia.

As demons from his past pull this shining star down, the one person he wants to eliminate may be the only person who can stop the terrors of a past he risks everything to forget.

Never Say Never by Kailin Gow – $2.99 – This is the first in a trilogy.

YA – Mature/New Adult

What girl wouldn’t want to be surrounded by the sexy guys from the hottest teen rock sensation in the country? 18-year-old Never "Neve" Knight, not only is surrounded by the hottest boys to hit the music charts, but she is the band’s lead singer. As the band’s lead singer and manager, Never formed and shaped the band to where it is today, a band on the rise and on the brink of being signed by a label. As one of the guys, she knew each of the band members since they were all snot-nose ten-year-olds. While her boys were the cutest guys and they would protect her like knights, she couldn’t date any one of them and ruin the chance at being signed with the record label of her dreams. That changes when one of the band members suddenly drops out of the band, and in walks Danny Blue, with his dreamy blue eyes, hot body, and British accent. Suddenly, Never’s solid world has turned to mush, and her rule for not dating one of her band members is seriously challenged. Can she keep her head straight and get her band signed with a label without losing her heart? Can Never change her tune of saying "never to dating a band member" to "never say never"?
