Cover Shot! Life Eternal by Yvonne Woon

I loved the ending of Yvonne Woon’s Dead Beautiful, and it makes me wonder if the second book in the series can top it.  The cover is so beautiful, too!  I like it so much better than the one for Dead Beautiful.  For one thing, Renee doesn’t resemble a hobbit anymore.  That’s a plus right there!   I think the crispness of the white and the brilliance of the blue in background make the image visually arresting.  What do you think? Did you read Dead Beautiful? Are you looking forward to Life Eternal?

Renée Winters has changed. When she looks in the mirror, a beautiful girl with an older, sadder face stares back. Her condition has doctors mystified, but Renée can never reveal the truth: she died last May, and was brought back to life by the kiss of her Undead soul mate, Dante Berlin.

Now, her separation from Dante becomes almost unbearable. His second life is close to an end, and each passing day means one less that she will spend with the boy who shares her soul.

Just when Renée has almost given up hope, she learns of the Nine Sisters-brilliant scholars who, according to legend, found a way to cheat death. She can’t shake the feeling that they are somehow connected to her dreams, strange visions that hint at a discovery so powerful, and so dangerous, that some will stop at nothing to protect it.

Renée thought she knew the truth about life and death. But there is a secret woven through history that holds the only hope for Dante and Renée. Unless they find answers soon, their time together is doomed to be cut short.

Vacation Reads Interview with Karen Duvall, Author of Knight’s Curse

Karen Duvall, the author of Knight’s Curse, dropped in to chat about some vacation memories. After you read the interview, don’t forget to pre-order her upcoming Luna release, which will be in stores August 23!

[Manga Maniac Café] Can you share your favorite vacation memory?

[Karen Duvall] Wow, that’s a tough one. Most of the vacations I take are short weekend jaunts and are usually writing related. My most recent favorite was a weekend retreat with some writing buddies who were members of the same RWA chapter I used to belong to. We rented a house on the Oregon coast for the weekend and when we weren’t writing or having group plotting sessions we were taking walks on the beach outside our back door. I adore the beach and the sound of crashing waves on the shore. It’s so invigorating.

[MMC] What is your least favorite vacation experience and why?

[Karen Duvall] I’ve always enjoyed my vacations so I can’t say I had any bad experiences on one. I’ve had my luggage lost a few times on the return home and that wasn’t fun. It often happened after returning from a trip to Hawaii, where I’d go to visit family.

[MMC] If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

[Karen Duvall] I really want to go to Europe, probably the UK or Scotland. Or Ireland. I love the history of old cities and would like to stand on the street and just absorb the place, feel the past seep in through my pores. The thing about America is that it’s still in its infancy when you compare it to cities like London and Edinburgh, unless you’re into Native American history. I think Europe is mystical and legendary. It’s where the greatest fairytales come from.

[MMC] What 5 items do you pack first?

[Karen Duvall] Underwear, favorite jeans, comfy sweatshirt, robe and cosmetics.

[MMC] What’s your ideal vacation?   Chillaxing and relaxing, or always on the go, go, go?

[Karen Duvall] Relaxing is the name of the game for me. I like to kick back and take in my new surroundings, using all my senses to experience whatever place I’m in. I’ll spend a lot of time outside, take walks and maybe long drives to see what there is to see. But I won’t be on a schedule. I like to take my own sweet time.

[MMC] Thanks!
