When I stepped into Barnes and Noble one day I didn't expect to find a book to live up to my standards. I wasn't into the whole "Twilight" scene because quite frankly, it's overrated. I continued walking and examining the bookshelf and I found it, "The Ghost and the Goth". The book I wanted to invest my money in the book that I wouldn't mind hauling around with me to school, the book that I wouldn't mind spending my time on.
When I got home I immediately started reading the book at 8:00 pm. Hours went by like I was stuck in a trance. I sat in the same spot reading the book cover to cover until I was finished and I wasn't done reading that book until about 7:30 am. Oh my, I was in love with the book. After a few hours of sleep I went on the Internet to see if there were going to another book. There was but I had to wait a very long time. In the mean time I read the book two other times.
I purchased the second book "Queen of the Dead" last night and I started reading. I was excited. I couldn't wait for the witty and sarcastic comments Alona would come up with, the romantic tension between Alona and Will, and the other ghosts that were out there...yeeeah, I stopped reading the book and chapter ten. It sounds like a complete disaster. The plot just sounded down right complicated. I was disappointed and I cried because it was not at all what I had expected. I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend my time reading the last half of the book of break my #1 rule, read the last page.
I read the last page.
Ugh, why?! I just concluded that Alona is stuck in Lily's body and there's nothing no one can do about it or wants to do about it. If Alona is stuck in the body, she's not happy but if she gets out of body Lily is right back where she started and her family would be grieving again. Am I going to continue reading?
Of course! I didn't want to spend 16 bucks and some change for nothing!
Bottom line, I don't think this book had the same pizazz and charm as the first book. I can't wait until the third book but I'm not as excited as I once was. I mean, I HAVE to read the last book, I want to know how it ends.

Loved Ghost and the Goth, so my daughter and I waited impatiently for this. Disappointing sequel though. Storyline never really found it's footing, and the new characters were grating and unlikeable. I found Will's personality and actions especially to be very un-Will like. He didn't seem to be the same character as the Will in the first book. Alona was the same as far as the cliched bits of her; I found her much less enjoyable in this book. At the end of this I actually said out loud "That's it?" I was still waiting for the "story" to get started! (I was reading on my Nook, which can be misleading as to how far into a book you are!) Such a shame, this was a cute, enjoyable story in the first book and had real potential. Maybe Ms. Kade can pull out a save in the 3rd, if she gets to write one. This one was just BAD.
